Description of City Cafe
Only a 4-minute taxi ride from Victoria Station, this award-winning restaurant-bar-terrace overlooks 'Side Street', a uniquely-conceived work of art linking John Islip Street and Millbank. Very easy on the eye, the restaurant is a series of mini dining rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. You pass through an arty avenue of columns from the pre-dinner drinks area to your table situated in a light and airy dining environment. Fine modern European cooking. Try a little Chicken liver and foie gras parfait, pear and apple chutney and toasted brioche to start, followed by 28 day aged buccleuch beef fillet, mini steak and kidney pudding, creamed horseradish puree and root vegetable ragout from the a la carte menu. For dessert, treat yourself to the lemon and honey rum babas. With an extensive New and Old World wine list, dedicated vegetarian menu (Garden Menu) and a daily changing Kitchen Menu, City Café is a smart choice for informal, not to mention funky, fine dining to suit all diets. The health conscious will no doubt appreciate that low-in-fat and lighter calorie dishes are highlighted on the menus.

Really enjoyed lunch at the City Cafe yesterday - as always the service and the food were excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to go back and with the excellent deal it is great value for money.

A good venue with excellent value for money. 4 persons with a bottle of wine on the market menu for about £90.
Slightly slower service than usual -- but all in all, a good experience.

City Cafe is conveniently located near tate Britian for a post gallery meal. The set menu is excellent value and the guinea fowl warm salad is highly recommended. The innovative Garden menu was a hit with the vegetrian member of the party. Service was excellent - overall highly recommend City Cafe.

The City Cafe set lunch is exremely good value at £10 for 2 courses, so it feels churlish to quibble! We both enjoyed our main courses, but each had doubts about our respective starters. It took a while to get our bill, but friendly staff parcelled up the chocs which accompanied our coffees, for me to take home for the family - much appreciated!

Surprisingly good food and service. Very friendly atmosphere and attention. Our meals were of a good standard and we were not unnecessarily hurried. Pleasnatly surprised with a very reasonable bill with only 10% service charge. Would definiotely recommend and go again.

A comfortable & calm setting in City Cafe. Can't fault the efficient and friendly staff. Being lactose intolerant is never a problem there and if a dish has to be adapted, it's no trouble and is done with flair and imagination. A great place for lunch or dinner after a visit to Tate Britain a few steps away.

I took a large group to City Cafe for their great value set lunch. The table looked lovely and the Maitre d' was excellent, directing his waiting staff to make sure we had splendid service. I think we'll be back!

The City cafe was located in the hotel we were staying at which made it even better, but even without this it was great value for money without comprimising on the food. It was an unlimited brunch. Unlimited starters, unlimited mains including from the kitchen orders and unlimited dessert including cheese. Overall left very happy and very full. The roast Beef was great the yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were ok but everything else was great the best £19.50 your likely to spend on Sunday

City Cafe is a great business lunch venue. Vegetarian menu is particularly good and the market menu on offer at the moment is good value. Service is relaxed and the decor is pleasant with very groovy whisk-chandeliers.

very good value meal in a pleasant environment and with good service

Enjoyed the starters but ordered Moulles Frites for main and wasn't told until it arrived (and after asking) that the 'frites' part wasn't available due to a problem with the fryer! Would have been nice to have known this when ordering so that another option could have been chosen. Moulles salade is just not the same!

I booked the city cafe for a business team dinner. It was great in everyway. We had a private area (even though I had not booked this) which gave us privacy, although the whole place is geared up for groups with intimate areas and larger tables separated by screens and plants. The service was attentive but not too pushy, and the food nicely presented with a varied menu which suited our whole group. Definitely will go again. highly recommended

We selected the restaurant as it was recomended for having a good vegatrian selection. The food on the menu looked ok but the service was slow and the food when it arrived was bland and cold. I would not recomend this restaurant and will not be going back.
