Description of Foliage
Reputedly one of the grandest hotels in London built in 1889 and overlooking Hyde Park, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park proudly offers its signature restaurant, Foliage. Since its opening this restaurant has quickly established itself on the London restaurant scene and deservedly boasts a Michelin star to prove it. This vibrant restaurant brings much of the beauty that Hyde Park has to offer into its interior through its contemporary design, thanks to Adam Tihany, as well as offering spectacular views from the inside out over the Royal parkland. A dining room of distinction - unstuffy, friendly yet professional staff provide a more than pleasant dining experience whether it be for lunch or dinner. Expect to find leisure and business travellers alike here as well as the odd celeb and those who are simply passionate about food. A great stop after a great shop at Harvey Nics or Harrods perhaps. Modern European fayre which is more than kind to the palate as well as to the eye, is surprisingly very good value for money - the set lunch has a great choice of dishes, many taken from the a la carte, including our favourites of ravioli of scallops, Dublin bay prawns, asparagus, truffles and artichoke veloute, Duo foie gras, caramelised endive tart tatin, vinaigrette of leeks, and Roast line caught sea bass, potato herb gnocchi, fricasse of peas, walnut and sherry vinegar, and for dessert nothing more sexy than hot chocolate fondant, Amaretto parfait, pearl barley sorbet - don't you agree! A winning wine list too. Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner - offering live jazz in the Mandarin Bar every night from 9pm to accompany your after dinner tipple. We recommend this experience at least once in a lifetime!

I booked Foliage at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for myself & three friends as we always go out together before Christmas. It was absolutely beautiful. From the moment we arrived,we were looked after.Lead to our table which was over-looking Hyde Park.We chose the taster menu as they had veggie option & 2 of the 4 were.Small portions but rich food.Delicious! The staff were over-keen with topping up water etc...but place wasn't that busy! All in all,I would recommend but maybe go on a deal instead!!

It was the first time my wife and I had gone to Foliage and we thought the food and service were excellent. We had the four course lunch menu. I suffer from a dairy allergy and they supplied without asking non-diary alternatives when there were no viable options on the menu.

Food was very good. Value for money with top table deal.

Foliage didn't disappoint! Although a little pricey you certinaly got what you paid for. Well presented, good choice...quality food. Highly recommended

The set lunch deal is fantastic value; highly recommend the additional charge (9) for the sommelier's selection of two wine glasses. Favourite course had to be the foie grad with smoked eel and the tuna tartar. The desserts were excellent. Would definitely go back when the need arises for another lunch treat (dinner way too expensive).

Food was really nice,
4 courses for £29 is a good deal.

The 4 course lunch menu at Foliage is definitely worth a try, particularly if you can secure a window table looking out over Hyde Park. Otherwise the room isn't very interesting. It took some time to get a drink and menu at the start of the meal, but after we got going the service was attentive. The food is unusual and very tasty.

Best value set lunch in London in my opinion. £37 for 4 courses including 2 glasses of wine, with food and service of this quality, is just excellent. We will definitely retrun with friends.

Going to Foliage should be a treat. If any restaurant deserves to survive the financial problems this one does. It is high end dining. All four courses were faultless, bringing intriguing flavour combinations together, e.g. scallop with squid ink, slight curry flavour. The amusebouches are good. Service was friendly and discrete. But not a place for people with a nut allergy. It is so nice to find staff who respect teetotal diners. This was my second visit and it was faultless.

Can sum up our meal at Foilage yesterday in one word, fantastic. Food exquisite, ambience brilliant and the service faultless. Nothing too much trouble for the staff who were a delight. A totally memorable meal. Can't wait to go again.
