Description of Gran Paradiso
A very well known restaurant that has been providing good value cooking for the last 30 years. The interior is tastefully decorated and the tables are not too crammed together so that you are forced to listen to your neighbours' conversation, whether you want to or not. All this is good news for the many politicians who frequent (it's within reach of the Divisional Bell). What's cooking? Original Italian cuisine, in particular specialities from Tuscany. Salads are made with ingredients from the owner Sandro's own garden and fresh fish is delivered twice a day from Brighton.

I booked a table at Gran Paradiso on New Years Eve for a family birthday. Outside the restaurant it was beautifully lit with lots of fairy lights. Inside there was a nice cosy ambience. Although we had arrived 20 minutes early, the owner changed the seating plans so we could sit down. The staff were polite and knowledgeable, I mentioned to the owner that it was my mums birthday and he put a candle in her dessert without prompting. I would highly recommend this reastaurant for food & atmosphere.

Thinking Gran Paradiso would be very busy the Saturday before Christmas we booked well in advance.....we needn't have. I'm not sure why but it was pretty quiet in there so the atmosphere was a little lacking, However, the food was delicious, in particular the saddle of baby lamb, and the service attentive without being intrusive. Perhaps a little expensive for what it is but not by much. I would certainly recommend.

Gran Paradiso is a very authentic restaurant with absolutely lovely food. It is also conveniently located just round the corner from Victoria Station. The only negative is that there are no V signs on the menu making it difficult to work out what is vegetarian - especially with that ever present non-veggie parmasan. But having said that the homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli was beautiful and covered in one of the best tasting tomato sauces. I will definitely return.

A delightful place to eat with a lovely atmosphere. They were obviously used to theatre diners as we were looked after really well by attentive but not invasive staff. The main courses were delicious and cooked to perfection. I felt the dessert was a little expensive and not sure if it was made in their kitchens? We would certainly go back and would happily recommend it.

I was cautious, when meeting a dear overseas friend for a meal that needed to be near her Victoria hotel ,due to her very early flight the following morning....Gran Paradiso did not dissapoint, and, indeed, was a wonderful find. The food was excellent, good value with efficient, but by no means ,overbearing, service. Although the restaurant was fairly busy, we were not hassled to pay our bill and leave when we finished eating -ideal as I will not be seeing my friend for possibly years.

was slightly disappointed ... food was good but not inspiring and decor/athmosphere was slightly old fashioned. nice enough but not great.
