Description of Greig's
Quietly nestled on a mews between Berkeley Square and Bond Street, Greig's has a reputation as London's best steak restaurant. Founded by Alistair Greig in 1959, its philosophy remains: the best ingredients cooked simply. Recent popular additions to the menu include such great British staples as shepherd's pie and roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Sure, they may cost three times as much than at your local café, but you're paying for the finest here. Floor to ceiling oak-panelling, thick white linen, £1000 Rothschild wines, this is typical Mayfair, naturally attracting well-off 40-something Americans with a weakness for family-butcher Scotch steaks. Sat slicing into your steak, should you wonder how many wine bottles that line the restaurant walls, the answer is around 3,000 - most of them French, all seriously good. We leave you with another plus point: not a table-turning place, book a table at Greig's and you've bought it for the night. How civilised.

Additional information for Greig's
Greig's is split into a few different areas - there's the intimate entrance bar, to the left of which is the oil-burner-lit main restaurant, sitting approximately 30 individuals. If you plan to be there for the night, why not opt for exclusive hire of the bar too so that your guests can really feel at home in their own self-sufficient section. Opposite the bar at the end of a short corridor is a private dining room for a maximum of 14 eating from your pick of a choice of menus sent to you. For true hidden-from-the-hoi-polloi privacy, hire the Oak Room nestled on the first floor of this impressive Victorian building. Featuring a round table, ideally sitting eight to ten, and leather sofas in front of a fire, it's the type of room you quickly feel at home in. Especially as a dedicated waiter or two will keep you in all you need for however long you chose to stay. But the Oak Room's piece de la resistance is the astonishingly large terrace it leads directly to. How perfect for exclusive aperitifs in summer; you'll be the most popular host in town.

Private Dining Now With Free Champagne! This venue is now kindly offering a free glass of champagne per person on arrival to all guests of any toptable.co.uk bookings that hire one of their wonderful, sumptious private rooms! (offer subject to availability)
