Description of Hadley House

This super-stylish restaurant on the High Street in Wanstead has undergone a stunning refurbishment. The minimalist dining room at Hadley House - with its sophisticated chocolate and lavender colour scheme, stripped floorboards and string curtains - is ideal for chic, intimate parties and celebrations. Hadley House is well-loved for its sensational fresh seafood, and the seasonal menu changes daily. We love the pan-fried king scallops served on smoked haddock fishcakes with sauce bierge; pan-roasted breast of Gressingham duck served with sautéed Lyonnaise potatoes, seared foie gras, buttered mange tout, tomatoes and shallots; and the baked fillet of sea bass with smoked salmon sausage, parmentier potatoes, broad beans, garden peas and tomato, served with a ginger and spring onion sauce. The lounge-bar, with its cosy leather sofas, is perfect for pre/post dinner cocktails.

Hadley House is superb for stylish wedding receptions and private functions. The main dining room is divided into two levels which can seat 55 in total. The intimate raised level can be hired for parties of up to 24.

We visited Hadley House for a mid week anniversary dinner. It was fairly quiet which emphasised the minimalist decor but the service was great. We sampled their new grill menu which is fantastic value for money, although my other half thought the salmon steak was too oily. That was the only negative as we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Very happy to have this restaurant nearby. The bill came in under £60 for a bread basket, olives, 2 great courses, a lovely bottle of shiraz and a coffee!!
