Description of Hat and Feathers
Back in the game and looking better than ever, the grand old Hat and Feathers has returned as a... pub, only this time with a first floor restaurant. Many of the fine original Victorian features - like gas lamps, chandeliers and big mirrors - have been kept in the bar. Upstairs is a modern and surprisingly formal dining room serving interesting Modern European combinations such as a beautiful slow-roasted (all meat is) loin of venison with celeriac puree, chocolate oil and toffee. Plus wines to complement each dish. Brilliant.

Additional information for Hat and Feathers
Adjoining the restaurant is an elegant, high-ceilinged private banquet room with 28 covers. Parties of 12 or less can dine a la carte. The Victorian pub/bar makes a cosy setting for pre and post meal drinks. Or drinks full stop, as the after-work crowd testifies. Or drinks-only parties for 40 guests. International draught beers. Some lovely Spanish and Italian bottles on the hand-picked wine list.

Hat and Feathers Reviews

Hat and Feathers was good value on the TT offer and nice food. More of a restaurant than a gastro pub so depends on what you're looking for.

Hat and Feathers - food was excellent quality. We had our team xmas lunch and everyone's selections were really tasty and satisfying. Portions were tle on the small side however, especially for the men. Main negative comment was we felt rushed - we wanted to settle in for an afternoon but waiters cleared our glasses and empty bottles and brought coffee before asking us if we wanted any more wine - which we did!

We had the 3 course menu with a glass of Prosecco (very smooth and tasty fois gras and a lovely ham hock terrine to start). The crackling on the pork belly was perfect and the accompanying chestnuts with cabbage and bacon were a complimentary accompaniment. One of us had steak which was also an excellent cut of meat and very tender.

We also enjoyed the lovely French house white wine, which was very reasonably priced at under £15/bottle. The deserts were very tasty (crème brulee and Christmas pudding), and the cheese board was a nice way to end our meal along with a good brandy.

Overall, the food was very good, the service was very efficient, and at this time of year there was a nice ambience. Very enjoyable and I would highly recommend this venue.

Hat and Feathers was a nice place for a mid-week meal. The food was great and the service was attentive although the evening was spoiled a little by the noise coming up to the dinning room from the crowded bar below. The room was also overly somewhat heated.

Had Xmas lunch with a client at Hat&Feathers, they were extremely busy but catered for our needs very comfortably. The food was well prepared, beautifully laid out and an absolutely delicious. Highly recommened - request to sit upstairs.

Went for Xmas lunch with 9 others. The food was very good but we would have appreciated a little more Xmas cheer (eg crackers, music, decorations). Also the music inthe toilets was horribly loud.

The Hat and Feathers was surprisingly nice once you got through the pub below and upstairs. First impression of the outside of the building wasn't too good - but it was a very pelasant dining experience

Great night at the Hat and Feathers on Friday night. The service and food were impeccable and they have the smartest toilets this side of a Park Lane hotel (upstairs anyway). Good deal with the 50% off, would highly recommend.

Very empty on a thursday night but food was great.

I was a bit apprehensive when booking this restaurant as it is above a pub and thought it might be a bit pub grub. I must admit that it was far from pub grub. The meal was excellent, the staff pleasant as was the surroundings.
The only negative thing was the toilets which although lovely and clean, they were downstairs in the pub area.
Nevertheless, I would strongly recommend this venue.
Well done - Hat & Feathers

we came back to hat and feathers for especially for their unforgettable panna cotta we had last year! although we didnt find it on the menu since they have changed it, but we were very happy with what they have in season plus the 50% off food is a great offer.

Hat and Feathers was fantastic. Food was delicious. Service fantastic. Ambience great. Highly recommend.

MM reviewed Hat and Feathers on 27/11/2008

The food was of excellent quality a real surprise as it's not what you'd expect from a venue with a bar downstairs

BC reviewed Hat and Feathers on 28/11/2008

The food at this restaurant (which sits above the Hat and Feathers pub) is very nice, and the value for money is good especially with the toptable special deal. The ambience is not bad, nothing special though. Would recommend this nevertheless.

Chris Parkin reviewed Hat and Feathers on 28/11/2008

Hat and Feathers on Friday night was busy and noisy downstairs in the bar, but quieter and relaxing upstairs in the restaurant. With the 50% offer (on the food) was good value.
Fillet steak and sea bass both excellent. Service friendly and professional.

Manbinder Deo reviewed Hat and Feathers on 28/11/2008

You wouldn't have thought this average pub had a terrific restaurant upstairs. Its a bit pricey, however with the toptable 50% off offer, great value for money.

Hat and Feathers, good food, good atmosphere and pleasant decorations also enjoyed having drinks after in the downstairs pub after my meal. However menu prices did not match the quality and portion sizes. Would have preferred coffee after my desert. And only one toliet per sex for the whole of the dining area.

Went to Hat &Feathers for New Years Eve. Set menu very good and good value for money compared to most on this night. Will return.

We have been to the Hat and Feathers many times, however, we felt the menu was not as interesting as normal. My Beetroot fondue looked pretty but was very bland. The waitress we found extremely efficient and very pleasant particularly as the restaurant was busy.
