Description of Kai Mayfair
"A truly fine meal is enjoyed not once but three times, in anticipation, in consumption, and in remembrance." With this philosophy in mind, Kai Mayfair was voted Best Chinese Restaurant in London by Harden's Guide 2002 and the Zagat Guide 2003. It is opulent and formal, decorated with a warm simplicity. Kai Mayfair is Chinese fine dining at its best. Dishes are a blend of the traditional and the unfamiliar, from every corner of China using only the finest ingredients... What's Cooking? Try the Plum sauce chicken topped with julienned orange peel, flash-fried Alaskan black cod with a sweet soya sauce, with the corriander spiced fried rice.

Kai have an extensive menu with something for everyone. The otrich with tender and full of flavour, but y favourite was the Tiger prawns, they were delicious and of course no visit would be complete without the crispy duck!

We had a lovely meal at Kai. We were seated downstairs which was very private, perfect for an intimate dinner. Its pricey but for food this good its worth it. Try the lamb with szechuan and the seabass. Melt in your mouth food!

Yes it is expensive - it's a treat not a family diner - the food is terrific - really something different and amazing - not sure you can really group it as a "Chinese" restaurant - it stand on it's own. The oriental lamb shank is my favorite dish of the year without doubt, i would urge anyone to try this place - simply put; it is very very very good!!!!

Best Chinese food in London by far. Watch out though, as the asparagus is extremely spice.

This place is clearly a business location and I can not recommend it for a romantic dinner. Also, their bar is not for use -- we had a drink there but unfortunately it serves as a collection point for used glasses which were pushed over to our side with very little thought of how that might affect us... Service was poor at the entrance but improved at out table.

Seriously excellent chinese food, wine list could be a bit more exciting but otherwise it's a great place to try out. Good place for couples/business groups.
