Description of Khan's of Kensington
Khan's of Kensington has developed a core of devotees over the years, from household names to lesser mortals, who delight in its slightly modern take on North Indian cuisine. The colonial ambience is very relaxed, pleasant, and its bijou dining room has an intimate feel. Some favourites -- among many -- are the fish Coliwada, which is fried marinated pomfret fish from Bombay, and the Officer's Chop of lamb in honey sauce. The tandooris and baltis are very popular, and if by chance you don't find your favourite on the menu, the kitchen are happy to set that right, too. Lounge bar on the lower level, charming atmosphere throughout.

Khan's of Kensington Reviews

The staff at Khan's of Kensington were very attentive to us, although they were slightly awkward in their manner. The curry's were great quality though! We enjoyed it overall. However the prices on the sample menu on toptable were not accurate. It was actually more expensive than that.

Khan's was new to us and had mixed reviews on value for money. The food was delicious and there were a number of original and very tasty dishes. We'd say that value is reasonable, provided you don't get tempted by the waiter's suggestions for starters and side dishes We had no starters, one prawn dish (which came with 2 veg and rice included), one lamb dish and a paneer dish; with rotis and papadums this was plenty for two. Just under £50 including tip & 2 glasses of wine seemed fine.

At 25pounds for two for a meal of luscious korma and yummy lamb, with a side order of aloo gobi, this is the best value for money I have found in London. Lovely decor. Nice service. Highly recommended

This was my first visit to Khan's of Kensington, and on the whole the food was very nice, although given the size of the portions a little expensive. Service was slow and we waited approx 35mins for our food to be served, and also a long time for the bill at the end. Generally I would recommend (we had the mixed grill which was excellent, and the king Prawn Curry which was ok). Would be even better if the service was faster.

Khans of Kensington was fairly good value for money, 'English friendly' Indian food.

Khan's on the Monday evening we went was fairly quiet but we arrived after 10pm . We were very pleased with the food, banana and spinach fritters and stir fried calamari to start followed by Bengal Fish Curry and a lamb dish. Our nans were also very good despite the lack of the raisins advertized as coming with the peshwari nan.

I booked a table at Khans of Kensington for 6.30 which was a bit too early as it was very quiet and we were the only people in the restaurant. As the evening went on the place livened up. Food was good but not exceptional. Service promtpt but they delivered our mains before we had finished our poppadoms! Towards the end we felt slightly rushed as people were queuing for our table. Not the place to go to make an evening of it - rather you need to eat and leave!

This is the second time I have been to Khans. Although the food is of good quality and neither of my meals have been bad in any way, it lacks to spiciness and variety of some other options in London.
