L'Etranger Reviews

Ambience was very good, service was prompt and very attentive. Food was excitingly different Franco-Japanese fusion that works. Small(ish) portions 'nouvelle cuisine' style. L'etranger did NOT get my reservation for Special Deal which included champagne so they dropped the champagne glasses from the bill (quite right). Attentive waiting staff and young, dynamic management made for a good meal and a pleasant evening. I think L'Etranger is a good restaurant which I would recommend.

L'Etranger blends Japanese and French cuisine in a very original way, also providing an extensive list of wines and sake. They have great ambience, good for formal events including a visit to the downstairs Opal bar/club afterwards, as well as for family dining including children. Their early bird dinner is a great buy!

My second visit to L'Etranger proved to be just as wonderful as my first. A truly first rate restaurant with wonderful staff, impeccable & friendly service with delicious food, a wonderful menu and stunning presentation. It made the perfect setting for a special dinner and we had a wonderful experience all round. Will definitely be returning.

L'Etranger was a fabulous experience. We took the special offer (£39.50 3 courses and champage) which was considering the normal prices very good value and which I highly recommend. The Black Cod and my husbands Apple Tart were out of this world and everything else was also extremely good. My only critism is that the wine list is very expensive. We had two glasses of their cheapest wine which came to £25 and their cheapest half bottle was arround £55. Otherwise a 5 star experience.

We went to L'Etranger for dinner on Sat evening. We've had good experience having lunch/brunch there, so our expectation was high. However, the service was patchy with some unfriendliness, and food was not great - though not bad (my husband's was good). We didn't feel like it was a dinner worth 120 for two (with two glasses of wine). We might go back, but for lunch or "early bird" offer..

L'Etranger was a bit quiet immediately after Christmas but this did not detract from what was a wonderful meal. It remains one of favourite restaurants in London and I always look forward to returning.

Our second New Year's eve at L'Etrenger. Due to copious amounts of fantastic wine and champagne, we're hard pushed to decide if this was a better or less wonderful experience than last year...either way it was still a very special evening. The food was excellent. Access to the club downstairs rounds off the evening nicely although the hospitality was not so forthcoming as last year (nearly a full night of complimentary drinks) but guess the credit crunch hitting everybody. Deciding on next year?

Excellent food and excellently presented. Their wine cellar is the most amazing I have seen so far; wine is, however, far overpriced, thus a 6 in value. The floor trembles as staff walks around, which is slightly annoying.

I've reviewed l'Etranger several times before. It is still a firm favourite of mine, with excellent food, friendly staff and a lovely ambience. I'm looking forward to my next visit already!

L'ETRANGER, AS ALWAYS A GOOD EVENIG OUT IN BOTH TERMS OF FOOD SERVICE AND AMBIENCE

l'Etranger continues to serve food to the highest standards. Many old favourites remain on the menu but regular innovations avoid the risk of boredom. In spite of the credit crunch, there is no fear of introducing menus which are unashamedly hedonistic, such as the the champagne and caviar tasting menu. I hope to be in a position to afford this one at some stage!

Great food-- the filet and lamb were excellent, good sides too. Beautifully presented. Service only average, however. Overall, a very good meal.

We went to L'Etranger for an early pre concert dinner. The food and service were both excellent and we will definitely be going back for the fuller menu. The restaurant is perfect for anyone going to an event at the Royal Albert Hall.

We have been to l'Etranger on a Wednesday night, the food was amazing and the service excellent. We took the Top Table special offer (menu at 39£) and it was an excellent value for money!
