Description of La Caricatura
Fancy blowing £150 on pizza? The house speciality at Mayfair newcomer, boutique pizzeria La Caricatura, comes topped with Canadian lobster and Sevruga caviar. Not that you need deep pockets to eat here - most of the masterpiece pizzas are under £10, all created in a hand-built, wood-burning oven that reaches the ideal 500 degrees. Bestsellers among the non-pizza dishes are the seafood pasta where you choose the pasta, and a very nice grilled seabass with lemon sole. A local business crowd fills the tables every day for the great value £15, two-course lunch. Though formal, La Caricatura is staffed by thick-accented Italians who'll welcome you even whether there for just a drink or for the famously grand pizza.

Additional information for La Caricatura
Most groups eat a la carte, but the kitchen is happy to create a set menu for you. Semi privacy is found at the back of the restaurant next to the oven, while pre and post meal drinks can be enjoyed in the small entrance lounge bar. Very nice Italian wine list featuring Barolo and Sassicaia, from £15 to £280+ for Dom Perignon Rose. A professional mixologist creates great cocktails, from Bellinis to Martinis.

La Caricatura Reviews

La Caricatura was a good place to have a fairly quick lunch. The ambience was appealing & the place felt clean, bright & airy. The staff were friendly although there were a couple of times when more than one came to the table at the same time - unnecessarily. The food was good & VERY filling, if a little overpriced for a pizza. Altogether a pleasant lunchtime experience & one I am likely to repeat.

There was a group of 8 of us at La Caricatura - we were treated very well, and the service was mostly excellent. The food is perhaps a little expensive but generously sized and very tasty! The meal was finished with free biscotti and citrus shots which were lovely.

The food at La Caricatura was very good. We had the Carpaccio di Parma to start which was very good. The Regina and the Simone pizzas were very large and very tasty. My only criticism would be that the mozzarella used on the pizzas could be better although it wasn't bad. Atmosphere was excellant and the decor is entertaining and pleasing. Overall it was good value for money and a very enjoyable meal.

Good sized portions of fish and carpaccio. Service lacked a little attention. Would go back to try the pizzas!
