Description of La Cave Restaurant
La Cave French restaurant just past London Bridge is like a rustic cafe in the Haut Savoie. La Cave feels a bit secret and all your own -- you walk down the steps by Southwark Cathedral and pass under the arch to find it. The tables out on the cobbles are set well below the raging high street and have a villagey view of the cathedral green. Inside, the buzzing vaulted dining room is all exposed brick, wrought cutlery, rough tiled floors, but modern and smart with it. French food, French wine, attractive and attentive French service -- La Cave is so Gallic it nearly shrugs. The entirely French wine list is compiled by someone who knows his stuff, from unusual champagnes to a rare dessert wine. La Cave restaurant: a charmante choice for Papa and Nicole.

Additional information for La Cave Restaurant
La Cave retaurant is just that little bit closer to France because it's south of the Thames, but the tricolour reigns in its heart and soon will reign in yours. The interior has an ambience of rustic charm with modern accoutrements, like a cafe in a smart Alpine ski resort but with real soul. Small groups could colonise a slightly separate end of the bar area that has low sofas and tables -- a great hideaway for an after-work birthday blowout. La Cave's menu is French and features an entirely French wine list, mostly in the affordable range. Great bread, too.

La Cave Restaurant Reviews

La Cave was exactly what we expected as a Restaurant. A small room with a nice atmosphere (felt like being in France), the food and wine were great and the Cheese board is excellent. Highly recomended.

Had a lovely evening here, sat on the terrace for our meal although would probably recommend eating in the restaurant, as the terrace is more suited to drinks and nibbles. Love the bar and will definitely go back.

La Cave is a very friendly place and the food is very good although portions are on the small side especially for the price. Would only go for a special occasion.

We booked a table on the terrace for after-work drinks and nibbles at Le Cave. A nice spot, but as a very cool August afternoon, requested to move inside. This was no problem for the staff who moved things to suit us with minimul fuss. As always, Le Cave had a fantastic, albiet expensive wine list. The cheese board is always a favourite, perfectly complimentary to the wines on offer. As usual, stayed much longer than originally planned in this wonderful wine bar/restaurant.

La Cave provided an easy-going and relaxed outdoor setting which was perfect on a summer's evening.

La Cave islocatd in perfect romanitc surroundings. Food is good and staff very friendly. The only quiblle is the music from the wine bar area is a little too loud which disrupts the ambience in the restaurant slightly. However, would go there again.

La Cave near London Bridge is an excellent dining venue and also pretty good if you just wish to have a drink too. My only niggle was trying to find the venue, my guests and I separately had difficulties finding the place. More signage would be helpful. Once you are there though its worth the effort!
