Description of Langtry's
Langtry's Restaurant is absolutely steeped in London history. Once part of the home of society temptress and stage actress Lillie Langtry, this unique restaurant delivers an intriguing mix of old-style listed London glamour and modern romantic charm. Head Chef Robert Lyons has reinvented a beautifully British menu to match. Start with a traditional beef tea or the signature starter of prawn cocktail, made modern with the addition of prawn tempura and marie rose ice cream. Comfort food rounds out the mains, with toad in the hole, crackling and Romney Marsh lamb all making appearances. Desserts continue the theme, and include a trio of blancmange. Wine lovers are also well catered for, with a different region receiving a special focus on the wine list each month.

Langtry's Reviews

Dined with friends on the Langtry's unlimited wine offer. Food was great, service too and the Burgandy wine good and flowed very freely. The restaurant was a little quiet so the ambience was sombre but the friendly attentive service more than compensated. The Wood Pigeonstarter is fantastic! Only stinger was £11 for a G&T in the bar beforehand! Would definitely dine again on this offer, pricey otherwise.

Fantastic value for money, great food and friendly service. A deal not to be missed.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Langtry's. The food was good although portions were not large and the service was excellent. The free wine was of good quality and served generously by the staff. The restaurant had a good ambience and this was enhanced by the really comfortable bar area where we took our coffee. £35 per head for food and wine of this quality in the most expensive area of London is fantastic value for money.

Langtrys unlimited wine deal was fantastic value at £30. Although when the bill came they tried to charge us for tap water and for £35 per head. It didn't take a moment for the helpful waiter to correct his mistake, but you wonder if he thought we'd drunk that much wine to not notice. The food was lovely, not amazing quality, but yummy. And the unlimited wine was always replenished. The restaurant was very quiet with modern music that didn't quite fit. But we had a lovely night out.

Langtrys was the venue for our annual Christmas get together and what was overall a good meal was spoilt by poor service. There appeared to be only two staff on duty and it was over an hour before our first course arrived at the table. My coat was misplaced in the cloakroom and there was a dispute in reconciling the bill. We all had an enjoyable time and felt the toptable deal was good value for money but the restaurant need to get their act together particularly at this busy time of year.

Clearly a popular choice as the restaurant was packed. The first thing you notice is how tiny the champagne glasses were, however this did not deter the waiters from seamlessly 'topping-up' when necessary. A classic location for a Sunday lunch with friends or family.

We went to the Langtry's restaurant with the top table deal - £30 for three courses and unlimited wine. Suprisingly, there was quite a wide choice of dishes and the food on the whole, was very nice (although the chicken was slightly too salty for me) with ample portions. The staff needed a bit of prompting to top up the wine, but generally we found it to be good value for money. The downside however was that the restuarant was very empty and very cold.

Langtrys was brilliantly situated near Harrods and Harvey Nichols for a long lunch after shopping! The food was excellent - using seasonal tasty ingredients, wonderfully cooked and put together - we were all very happy. What a good idea to have wine included with the set menu - this takes away the stress of wondering how much everything will cost. We did have to remind the maitre d regarding the tp table arrangements as we were overcharged to begin with. This was put right quickly. Good service.

The food was well prepared even the choice of dishes were not much. Service was good. The only criticism was instead of th price as booked a full price was charged. This was only corrected when it was mentioned later

Food very good but service a bit slow. Good value for money with the Top Table offer, but otherwise rather expensive. Overall enjoyed the meal and would go again.

Langtry's is a very quaint establishment. The dining room is well laid out with copious space between tables. The food was most enjoyable. An attentive staff without being fussy. The only downside was the price of bottled water and coffee. However, for the 3 courses and unlimited wine, the overall cost was very reasonable.

A great deal with the top table unlimited wine and £29.95 for 3 courses. Wine was really good and everyone enjoyed their meals. Lacked a little in atmosphere but still a really good venue for group meals.

This deal at Langtrys - 3 courses with unlimited wine at £29.95 was excellent value. It was a group of us having a meal and therefor suited very well. Wine was perfectly adequate - and they were not niggardly. Food was fine - choice of about 5 for each course so not too restrictive. Some truly excellent - wood pigeon wellington. The main courses were again fine but obviously things were not constructed to a price. Service was very good. Would recommend at the offer pricing.

We booked this restaurant for a girlie christmas lunch and it did not disappoint. Good set menu and super service. Serving of the wine was also generous. Value for money and I would recommend to friends.

We had a fab time! Will certainly go again- It was a Monday night and it was fairly quiet but we made up the ambience with our conversation- the deal on the wine certainly helped!

We went to Langtry's on 24 Nov, good choice on the menu and food was lovely.

Enjoyed the Top table unlimted wine deal ath Langtry's. My guests arrived at an empty restaurant 10 minutes early and were turned away. Not a great start. Food was fairly average although enjoyable. Unlimited wine is a bit of a doge as you do not get your own bottles and have to rely on a solitiary waitor topping you up - at his own pace. Not a bad evening, prefer somewhere with a good deal that really delivers on food EG Clerkenwell Dining Rooms.

KR reviewed Langtry's on 06/12/2008

Langtrys Restaurant. Food was excellent as was the service. The only minor criticism I would make is that the lighting was slightly too bright and needs lowering to create a more intimate atmosphere.

HM reviewed Langtry's on 28/11/2008

The offer at Langtry's is great and I would recomend, the only real catch was you can only have the wine during the meal and not before or after.
