Description of Le Vacherin
This classic French bistro continues to inspire enthusiastic praise. For chef-proprietor Malcom John's perfectionist cooking (he trained with the Savoy Group before moving on to St Quentin's and the Blue Bird private members club). For the very bistroness of it all - bistro chairs, strip mirrors, white linen, convivial atmosphere, charming service. And for the purity and quality of the produce. The classics are all here: escargots, steak tartare, chateaubriand, côte de b?uf grille. Ditto desserts: crème brulee, ile flottante, tarte aux poires et glace vanille. And all of them affordable. Lucky, lucky Chiswick.

Additional information for Le Vacherin

Le Vacherin Reviews

Le Vacherin serve up classic French cuisine with flair and imagination. Great 'frites' (a sign of a quality bistro) but the service was a little poor (just because your staff are French doesn't mean they will have any natural talent for the job).
Great choice of wine and 'digestifs'. I enjoyed a cognac 8 years my senior and now I'm thinking of only drinking spirits older then me (yes, it was that good).
This is one of Chiswicks hidden jewels.

Wine list was very pricey and difficult to get through for the non-expert. Recommendations from the staff would have been appreciated.

La Vacherin provides a delighful ambience and the service is very professional and discrete. As two couples with three children each we really appreciated having some adult time in a sophisticated environment.

Le Vacherin has a lovely atmosphere, intimate even though the place was full, and the tables close together. Food and wine was delicious - but was very expensive £150 for 2 diners. Waiters were attentive, if not too attentive at the beginning when we arrived at 7pm, but when they got busy at 8:30pm, it was hard to flag them down.

Le Vacherin- Octber offer of coq au vin and a glass of red for under £10 - very good value offer from this extremely nice (and local) restaurant. Sadly not at all full at lunchtime but is often booked out in the evening.

Monday night at Le Vacherin was not quite the same as a busy Friday or Sat. It was very quiet and a bit overlit. The menu has changed, and our duck and steak were ok, but not amazing. We had a waitress in training, which was interesting. Would reccommend for later in the week, but prob wouldn't go back on a Monday.

we arrived for a late booking on a friday night and service was very slow. had to wait 10 min for table; waited 10 minutes for wine list and menu. bread was also slow to arrive. restaurant like many others is way too noisy. however food was excellent.

The food at Le Vacherin was excellent, and well presented. The menu was interesting and offered plenty of choice. Our service was not brilliant - we waited and waited to be offered a drink, having to ask in the end. We were also not offered bread, unlke all who came afer us - a minor detail but we remarked on it, so it must have grated. However, we enjoyed our evening

Very much enjoyed Le Vacherin, mainly due to the superb assiette of Barbary. We went for lunch and despite there only being 3 tables occupied the service was incredibly slow. Other than that lovely setting and the staff were very professional.

Service was slightly over-attentive when we arrived as they were not yet very busy - you had barely taken a sip from your drink before it was refilled. However, towards the end of the meal, we had a long wait for coffee and then for the bill, as the restaurant was busier. The tables felt very close together and during the lengthy wait to retrieve our coats we were made to feel in the way by some of the waiting staff. This was a shame as the meal had been excellent.
