Description of Searcy's
Searcy's, a relaxed lounge and restaurant located in the Barbican arts complex in east London, is ideal for relaxed cocktails and post-show suppers. The contemporary dining room commands sensational views overlooking the Barbican lakeside and city skyline, and is filled with theatre-mad dilettantes, librarians and ladies who lunch, creating a buzzy pre and post-show ambience. The modern British menu features favourites such as the Welsh rump of lamb with spring onion mash, homemade fishcakes and a delicious selection of traditional puddings. Searcy's restaurant is perfect for tragically theatrical post-analyses of plays, or if you just want to get a bit squiffy with mates before the show.

Additional information for Searcy's
Searcy's at the Barbican holds 70 diners, and can seat parties of 12 at individual tables. Pre and post theatre bookings must be made in advance.

Searcy's Reviews

The newly refurbished Searcy's is a wonderful place for a quiet dinner. Its menu is mainly British and seasonal (including a delicious hare pie for two to share), and its new muted neutral decor creates a relaxed environment. Only one criticism: it was virtually empty when we had dinner. Maybe word of the re-opening hasn't got out yet...

Pleasant food if a little ordinary. Service was ok but I would have expected more a more helpful attitude. Convenient if you are attending anything in the Barbican but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

Searcys is consistently good. No matter who is joining me for dinner I am confident that they will be delighted with their meal.

Food lovely, toilets unusual

Searcy's: nice food, nice service, nice place, excellent view over the barbican and perfect for pre theatre dinner. Only complaint: maybe a bit over priced.

Food very good. Service not so. Restaurant is in need of refurbishment so its timely that they are closing for a refit this summer.

Reasonable food. Not a huge choice. Slightly over-priced for the quality of food. We had 2 bottles of wine between 6 people, plus 2-3 courses each, and it was £43 per head. It was a nice enough dinner, and convenient as a pre-concert venue. Very popular, fully occupied. It was a Saturday evening with a full house concert. Won't go there unless going to a concert, but it was ok.

great meal, fairly quick in time for a concert.

Searcys was very quiet over a lunchtime however the food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Took a client there for lunch and would definately go again!

We will definitely be going back to Searcy's at the Barbican: the service was excelent; the food was delicious (although my lamb was a bit rare for my liking, but it all came right with the wonderful desert!); the wine was fabulous (but a bit pricey at £18.50 for a bottle). They also have a bar area with it's own bar menu which we will definitely try - it's even open for breakfast from 9am! Overall not a cheap place to eat but extremely enjoyable experience.

I always enjoy dining at Searcy's. The service is extremly good. The food is of a very high standard and by London prices; the price is very reasonable.

Searcy's is a very efficiently run restaurant with good friendly staff. Ideal for a pre concert meal at the Barbican.
Modern cooking, which is very well presented. We would definitely go again.

It is the 2nd time I have dined at Searcys and both times the food and service has been 1st class. The staff are friendly and helpful. I will certainly eat there again.

Charles Harper reviewed Searcy's on 16/07/2008

In need of a refurbishment however the food was of a very good standard. The dishes were a bit dry and if you are ging to serve thick chips then why not ketchup? They had to take our wine order twice.

Think this place is great, once you find your way round the maze that is the Barbican!

JW reviewed Searcy's on 05/11/2008

We go to Searcy's a fair bit, mainly because it is so convenient for the Barbican centre. This visit was typical: food and service both quite good, but not exceptional. You can get a better meal for the same money elsewhere, but the location (and the view) make it worth going to.
