Shogun is old school in every respect. Food is good but very very expensive, service good, decor a bit dreary

The Top Table Deal at Shogun - 4 courses for £30 - was great value. Our sashimi was ultra-fresh as it should be and the teriyaki steak was beautiful. Service was really attentive and they let us sit and chat for hours after we had finished our meal refilling our green tea the whole time. All in all a really enjoyable night.

This is one of the best Japanese food which I have tasted in London. The Sushi and Sashimi are execllent, fresh, high quality and well cut. Highly recommended if you fancy 'real' Japanese but with all good food, it comes with a price.

The best sushi in London and the clientele are all Japanese which definately says alot about the food.
The wine list is also fantastic so highly recommended

Shogun restaurant is a hidden gem. Staff are incredibly friendly and well presented. The teryaki scotch steak was especially delicious, would reccomend

While the sushi at Shogun was nice, the wait staff wasn't the most friendly and seemed to be in a rush to take our order two minutes after we got our menus. Was a bit of a stressful dining experience overall.

Service was excellent, good wine list, I ordered the sushi menu and although they had forgotten one of my items, they made it up for it by discounting the bill. Ambiance was lively as well on a saturday night. One sure sign of quality : many japanese were dining there as well. Will definitely recommend and go again.

Shogun is a little gem in the heart of Mayfair. A charming, old-school Japanese restaurant in a grotto-like basement, decorated with lavish kimonos and even a suit of samurai armour. The ambience is cosy and intimate, rather than bright and minimalist. We went with the Sashimi set dinner for two, which was £45 per person. It was exquisite. Beautifully presented and full of subtle flavour combinations. The main, mixed sashimi of salmon, tuna, sea bass and mackerel, was simply beautiful.

Lovely, really! Took my wife for our anniversary.
Lovely setting, very sweet and accomodating staff. Extraordinary sushi chef (the best in London they said).
A bit pricey, but well worth it, nice touch at the end was tea and a fruit platter 'gratis' with (strangely) a bowl of MMs.
Definately going back, and looking forward ot it.

It is EXTREMELY pricey. But the food prepared is EXTREMELY good. Bare in mind all you get is as authentic as it gets; nothing funky and out of the world. World class authentic Jap Restaurant. Waiter and waitresses are friendly and smilling all the time. Worth a try

Shogun brings a real ambience and taste of Japan to London - a lovely little place!

Being a bit of a Japanese food bigot, I was looking forward to see how it stacked up. While being a bit more "traditional" then most Japanese places in London, it lacked any real innovation. The dobin mushi was not bad and the unagi yakitori was very very very good. Again, the service was exceptional by London standards.

INice looking restaurant and very friendly staff. Food came quickly - sushi was excellent as was the main course. Quite pricey but great for a treat. A nice touch was a complimentary fruit platter we had at the end of the meal - finished everything off quite nicely.

Shogun was ok. It is in a dungeon which isn't great but matters less a tnight. It was pretty deserted when we were there. The salmon sashimi was excellent and the rest of the food was pretty good.

Would never have found the restaurant if not for Toptable. Food was great....fresh and nicely presented. Would definitely go back there.
