The Simpson's at Starnd is a great restauratnt, it's definitely worth going there. The main hall is a bit noisy though. We had a hreat time there.

The legendary Simpsons in the Strand did not disappoint! My word - we had a scrum-delish New Year's meal. It is strange going to an eatery which did not allow women through its doors thirty years ago but it was not stuffy or pretentious at all and the food was great with huge portions. Next time we visit, we may opt for a main and pud instead of starter and main!

I dined at the Simpson's in the strand ten years ago for the first time and the legendary traditional roast beef restaurant still keeps the high standard of the quality of food, service and the 'Britishness' today.

Simpsons is a british tradition. Sadly the number of diners that appreciate such tradition is dying, replaced by a new breed of corporates !! Still the food is brilliant and the service attentive. Tradition is tradition - so how dare my guest go for the fish pie at Simpsons !!

The food at Simpsons was amazing - the roast beef in particular and the restaurant itself is lovely and old fashioned. My problem was the service. For the prices I was paying I would have expected much more attentive service. The waitress was very friendly but she was clearly over stretched and we had to wait long periods of time before our orders were taken or the bill was brought. It may be better on a night other than Sunday.

I have been going to Simpsons in the Strand for fifty years or more and have never been disappointed

Simpson's in the Strand is an excellent restaurant for a special occasion, almost a return to a, much missed, bygone age. Standards are very good but make sure you ask the price of the ports before you choose!!

Simpsons signature dish "roast beef" is a must - absolutely wonderful. The restaurant was very busy and almost all the diners were eating the roast!! Service was a little slow so we didn't have time for dessert (which looked equally good).

10 deadly sins seems to be less deadly than it used to be and service was pretty slow (and eggs were got wrong) but Simpsons in the Strand is still agreat venue for breakfast.

Simpsons in the Strand excelled themselves.A very busy day,(Lunch the day before Xmas eve) a request for a booth was met after a short wait.Nothing was too much trouble. An enquiry about an old bar downstairs resulted in a courtious tour and some Simpsons literature.Yes, it is not cheap, but the ambience, service and sense of occasion makes it a place not to miss.Delighted. The Beef was the best.

If you have not been worth going to one of London's institutions not stuffy at all. Excellent service and old school ambience and of course the carvery trolley!

Paul Cann reviewed Simpson's in the Strand on 21/12/2008

Simpson's was a fun Sunday lunch. We expected the formality of the Ritz but were surprised at the relaxed, welcoming and casual ambience. Nevertheless, this is a quintessentially English experience - the wheeling up of the trolley then the great carving act is done with great aplomb. The meat was superb but we could not say that for the trimmings - Yorkshire puddings large but dry and near ash like ; vegetables adequate but unexciting. £90 per head should produce better overall quality.

Simpsons in the Strand was everything we expected - english grandeur and great food. My brazilian girlfriend loved the 'englishness' and the bossanova played on the piano was an unexpected bonus! Only downside was someone sat on next table in scruffy jeans and cardigan! Making an allowance for tourists is no excuse - understand need for income but either there is a dress code or there isn't!! Marked down ambience because of this (couldn't think where else to reflect annoyance).
