Description of Smollensky's on the Strand
Smollenskys has long been known for its relaxed atmosphere, fun vibe and party spirit. The food which is British and Mediterranean, is simple and hearty but shows real attention to detail - all the meat is from grass fed herds, for example, and the company makes its own marinades and sauces. With its unfinished brick walls and gentle, subdued lighting, this West End restaurant and bar is cool and unfussy, the perfect venue for simple, well prepared food and a good night out with friends or work colleagues.

The lunchtime deal at Smollensky's on the Strand is great value

Smollensky's fully anticipated our needs and met them with superior quality and class! Their party planning services are the most capable and respectful in London. Nice meal for a very reasonable price in a hip, modern, special event space. The only downside is that they can't seem to handle the size of the party that they can accommodate (toilet stalls in disarray, not enough wait staff, long waits between courses, etc.). Can't think of a family-friendly venue with more class. Will return '09!

Food was very nice, shame about the staff, not the most helpful and friendly bunch of people!

I went to Smollensky's as part of a large group for a hen night. I thought the atmosphere was lively and the happy hour until 7 was very good. I was a little disappointed with the food which was pretty average and expensive. The service however was very friendly and attentive even on a very busy saturday night.

I have been several times and it never lets me down. I took friends who have never been before and they were extremely impressed with the food and presentation. Extended menu and great drinks list. Something for everyone and not over the top. A very reliable venue and can generally book at short notice. Only extra to top off the evening would have been live music. However, January 3rd maybe the quiet time of the year for this.

Smollensky's is hidden away on the strand, you have to look carefully and it's much larger than you think. We had the pre-theatre set menu, it was a bit like school dinners, but good value for money and very fast, so just what we needed. I read another review saying the tables were a bit too high and I'd have to agree, but it's nothing to put you off going there.

Smollenskys was quiet when we arrived at 6 ish but soon filled up.We did not have long as we were going to a show, so this was perfect. Food as good but there was no house wine available which was the only wine for happy hour.

A great venue for the 30th birthday we were celebrating, the staff were very attentive. The only downfall was accesss to the table which was limited. The tables were very close together and our table was right next to a few stairs which made it very awkward to get to. Two members of the party were pregnant, two were over 6ft & one had a broken arm so access to the table was awkward for these in particular. But overall a most enjoyable occasion.
