Description of Spices
Spices restaurant in Islington's Chapel Market serves extremely high quality Indian and Bangladeshi dishes in a restaurant that's like Indian restaurants you used to know. The green awning welcomes you into a newly-renovated, old-style restaurant that's partly takeaway and partly dining room, so while it's not a place to impress a design-victim, it's certainly a spot to thrill a foodie. The staff has old-fashioned courtesy, the owner is smiling and the freshly prepared dishes really reach the heights. They will even create new dishes for you. Everything is good, but do try the Dallsha. Oh, and bring your own wine or beer.

Spices in Angel has become a bit of a pilgrimage for my boyfriend and I. It's subcontinent food at it's very best with amazing side dishes to compliment the main. Always fresh, never floating in oil.... perfect.

Spices is a great find on Chapel Market which delivers everything which the many positive reviews below suggested. As a BYO restaurant - combined with prices which aren't set extra high by way of compensation - it offers great value for money in Islington for food which is absolutely fantastic. Freshly cooked and finally a restaurant not afraid to trust the chef and the menu description and delivery your dish as hot as you request or the menu suggests. First class service and fantastic food.

As always, the food at Spices is amazing. Completely worth a visit.

Spices is nothing special in terms of design and atmosphere - certainly not a place to impress pretentious diners. However the food is superb, and the head chef was incredibly helpful at explaining the menu and suggesting dishes. Bring your own as well so fantastic value for money - will definitely be going back.

I went to Spices with 8 friends. The owner was very friendly and recommended different dishes we might like to try that were very tasty. The starters in particular were delicious. It's BYO and there is an off-license across the road but it's a bit pricey.

Spices was great for the food & BYO helps make it very affordable. The decour could do with a bit of a spruce up tho'.
