Description of Strada - Highgate
Although a fair-sized chain, Strada manages to retain the feel of a neighbourhood Italian restaurant. Probably because each restaurant is individually designed, though all share certain common features such as burgundy banquette seating and nice staff. A one-off, this Highgate branch has kept many of the original features of the listed building it occupies. Slower-paced than its West End siblings, its buzzy without being manic - apart from at weekends when its packed. On the menu are pastas, risottos and 'house' specialty, scrummy wood-fired pizzas, but the bestsellers by far are the meat and fish grills (very healthy, very Highgate). Regulars are wealthy locals, George Michael and Les Dennis among them, who stick to their 'usual' table. The most popular area is the front section by the windows that open out onto the terrace.

Really enjoyed the meal, very impressive! The tomato and pesto pizza bread starter was delicious!

It was about the 5th time I've been to Strada in Highgate as always have meal there - service was good as always, with complimentary water and a limoncello afterwards. Did forget my salad, but took it off the bill with no fuss what so ever. Atmosphere is nice and give the seafood spaghetti a try!!

Ambiance of the restaurant was nice, a better place for dining in groups rather than a couple. Food was o.k. starter was better than the main course.

Strada Highgate does good food at reasonable prices and if you're off to Kenwood the service is quick and they respond to last minute taxi requests!

Fine with the TT offer. Standard Strade fare but a pain to remind the waiter when he gave us the bill we had made a special booking. It's surprising how often this happens!

Strada, Highgate, is a great venue for a family weekend meal. Staff are very accommodating and helpful when dealing with the children and the food is delicious both for adults and the children.

I'm quite a fan of Strada normally, but our visit to the one in Highgate was dissapointing. We went early on a Sunday with our two children, it was messy with food on the floor and tables left uncleared. Service wasn't brilliant (a bit argumentative to be frank), portion size was just about OK, but borderline and although it was only half full it was a very noisy environment, you'd have to shout accross the table to be heard at peak times.

Four of us ate at Strada in Highgate last night and generally the meal was good. We had to reorder our wine but this was the only slip up and the service was otherwise efficient. Food was to the standard you would usually expect from the Strada chain and good value for money.

Strada Highgate - maybe next time stick to a pizza here. The garlic bread was delicious, one of us had the grilled tuna was very good. However the seafood linguine was disappointing

This was a very good value offer. The food was delicious - especially the risotto, which it's hard to get right - and the portions were generous. Free bottles of filtered water on the table were a nice touch and the staff were charming. A very nice evening!

We visited the Highgate branch of Strada at 7pm on a Thursday. Within 15 minutes it was packed, obviously very popular. The food was delicious, our party of 6 had the pasta, pizza, calves liver and the pork and everyone was happy with their meal. With the 2 for 1 offer, the bill for 6 with wine and three deserts and garlic bread and service came to £86, which was pretty good.

food is consistently good and great value with 2 courses for £12.50!

Nice restaurant, Good food although I found the seafood 'stew' far to salty. Food arrived quickly, but the staff seemed a little odd e.g three of them noticed we had no cutlery when our main was served after starters, but ignored us as if we had done something wrong!!

Andy Pellant reviewed Strada - Highgate on 16/08/2008

Although part of a 'chain' each Strada restaurant still seems to be able to offer a menu and a quality of service that reminds you of locally owned and managed Italian restaurants. Strada in Highgate is no exception .... We shared a collection of Starters and Breads, the steaks were perfectly cooked and the Liver and Bacon was beautifully prepared. Leave room for a dessert - you won't be disappointed!

What a lovely evening we had at Strada, Highgate! We wanted to meet up with friends from out of town to chat and enjoy a tasty meal, and that's exactly what we did! The staff were friendly and warm on an arctic night, the Top Table special menu was supplied with warmth, and the house wine was just right. The only minor point was that we couldn't find soup on the menu, and on a cold night, this was a shame. It was so nice not to have to shout to hear yourself speak, - we'd definitely go again.
