Description of Stranded in London
Bar the pun, this Italian in the middle of the Strand has plenty to commend it: a friendly atmosphere, warm lighting, and an innate 18th century charm, thanks to the original wood panelling. The back half of this narrow strip of a restaurant is officially a cosy bar, but in practice two thirds of the space is used to seat diners fond of pasta and the satisfying sauces that accompany them. If the best- selling steak in a blue cheese sauce sounds too rich, you may prefer a more earthy bangers and mash or roast beef. There is no (printed) dessert menu; it changes so regularly that your waiter will recite the (on average) seven choices to you.

Additional information for Stranded in London
Groups of up to 20 can sit together with other diners next to you. Otherwise, you can hire the main restaurant for 28 people at a sit down meal; and ten more if you extend your area to the bar. Alternatively, there are two private rooms on the floor above. The smart Tuscany room overlooking the Strand seats 30, while across the landing the brighter, pale green Sicily room fits 36. Both are naturally-lit, and attractively decorated with modern art. Menus? Stranded in London Reviews

Stranded in London served its purpose completely. Show at Adelphi and the restaurant is next door. Friendly greeting, good service and good food. We are old and do not hit London too much these days but would certainly recommend.

Stranded in London is a lovely little cafe/restaurant. I dined there for lunch with several colleagues on Wednesday lunchtime. The restaurant was long and narrow and full of character, if not diners. Shame as the service was friendly, the food very good and the restaurant great value for money. Will definitely be going again.

Stranded in London is 5 minutes away from our theatre we were gong to(Aldwych) - perfect position. The food was very good - varied menu considering it was for a pre-theatre. The main courses were big so we had to pass on pudding.I had salmon which was perfectly cooked- y friend had the chicken. Recommend book an early sitting. We arr' 5.20, left just before 7. Service isn't rushed-suited us but might not others. Minus-1 glass of cheapest wine, water, espresso cost same as food. Will go back

I think I would have normally walked right past Stranded in London because of its naff name, but I'm glad I checked out the diners' reviews on Top Table and made a visit. It's a lovely old-school family-style Italian, with charming service and good traditional food. Top Table is great for finding these hidden gems in the West End.

I would definatley return to Stranded again. The service was great the waiting staff found out it was my birthday and brought dessert with candles in and sang me happy birthday which was lovely. Couldn't fault the service and the food was delicious particularly the fillet steak! There was a large wine list and we found a lovely bottle of Rose. I would definatley return and would recommend particularly if you are looking for a pre or post theatre restaurant.

My dish wasn't so great but my friends were very happy with theirs. It was very quiet and yet the service wasn't as good as it should have been.
