Description of Tangawizi
Tangawizi restaurant in London's East Twickenham, close to Richmond Bridge, earned the well-heeled locals' devotion right from the off. The chef is 'trained by and strongly recommended by Vineet Bhatia' and that's saying quite a lot. The dining room is very smart, mood-enhancingly lit in saffron and blackberry with details of beautiful sari fabric inlaid in the tables. Dishes are authentic North Indian, but cutting-edge and contemporary, the way we Londoners like them: the freshest of ingredients, little oil, sparkling flavours. Try the mixed platter of starters to share to really browse the possibilities, then choose something like spicy marinated red snapper in tempura batter served with cheddar and Parmesan risotto, with one of the lovely dahls on the side. The traditionally-clad waitstaff are very attentive and the whole experience a winner.

Additional information for Tangawizi
Tangawizi - it means 'ginger' in Swahili - is a small, special place in which to host your business, family, or personal event. The restaurant is smartly designed to be both authentically Indian and big-city modern at the same time. The area at the rear of the dining room can be made quite private for events that include up to 30 guests seated, and the entire restaurant can accommodate larger parties up to 60 seated. The menu includes lightened authentic North Indian dishes like starter of juicy king prawns marinated in coconut, ginger and garlic, main course of fabulous masala liptey chicken (the chef's specialty), and palate-cleansing dessert of fresh mango and passionfruit cheesecake. If Tangawizi is the shape of Indian dining to come, then we say welcome.

We are incredibly lucky to have Tangawizi as our local Indian restaurant. Food and service are always excellent.

Tangawizi is most definitely the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. It never lowers its standards. I cannot rate it highly enough.

As a regular visitor to Tangawizi I'm sort of waiting for the very high standards to drop but i am happy to say that they never do. Every visit feels special and the service is attentive without any intensity. The food is clean with high quality ingredients and they are always happuy to make changes to any dish to suit individual tastes. Lovely.

This is our second trip to Tangawizi. Again the range of fresh flavours was delightful and the food all round excellent. The atmosphere was a little flat tucked away round the back of the restaurant, so unless you have celebrity status and don't want to bee seen, I'd suggest you sit at the front. The aircon was broken.

We had a birthday booking for 20 people at Tangawizi, Richmond and the restaurant were friendly and very helpful in accommodating our ever-changing requests. The staff were professional, friendly and our food was served quickly despite the large number of people. The majority of the meals were delicious, however the Rogan Josh was disappointing. The sauce was a little too much like soup and couldn't be properly enjoyed with your rice. Overall a great evening and we'll certainly be back.

The starters were good, not great, but the mains were fantastic. Excellent, attentive service. I would definitely eat at Tangawizi again.

Some of the food was excellent but not all of the same standard. Service was patchy as a lot of waiters' time and attention was taken up by takeaway customers

Our visit to Tangawizi was on a pretty busy Saturday night. The service was excellent, very solicitous and attentive and the meal got of to a good start with the mixed starter platter, which tasted very fresh and beautifully spiced. Unfortunately the mains didn't live up to the starters. I had Goan Prawn curry, it was swamped in sauce and tasted a bit like the pawns had been thrown in at the last minute. My companion had the Spinach/Lamb curry which had too much spinach and was a bit dry.

Tangawizi is an upmarket Indian restaurant - I tried it for the first time on Friday. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. I can particularly recommend the Lamb Biriani, and the portion was so large that I asked to take home the remainder and had it the following day.
