Description of Thai on the River
Yet another cuisine that is begging to be shared among friends or served in irresistible tidbits to partying horde, Thai cuisine is rarely better served than here at Thai on the River. The river views are really lovely and make this a 'destination' restaurant, a special setting for your event. The decor and ambience are smart and grownup but still relaxed. The private area seats up to 50, but we can imagine hiring the entire venue for a very special launch or reception. Menus include dishes like kanom jeeb dumplings, fried salmon fillets with tamarind, chillies and cashews, spiced shredded green papaya with shrimp, and pad thai. The wines are well-suited to the spicing.

Additional information for Thai on the River
All the people who loved Thai on the River before, for its stunning view, wonderful food and smart service, will love it even better now, if that's possible. A move of location has created a more welcoming entry and reception area, a better use of internal space with new decor and a terrific riverside conservatory. Beautiful silks and natural wood panelling adorn the walls, while the tables are set with white linen. The Thai food is just as good as it always was. Try starter of classic tod mun plaa, main course of a curry with choice of protein, or one of the superb fish dishes like whole steamed sea bass with lemon, chillies and spring onions, and of course pad thai. Service is still fleet and friendly.

thai on the river, fun place reasonable value(especially with the 50% off food deal) the river view is questionable !
but overall pretty good.

It's my third time to this restaurant. It's good with the 50% off offer. Otherwise i think it's a bit expensive.

Food was excellent and so was the attentive service. Location very good and must be wonderful during summer to sit outside!!

Took my sister to Thai on the River for an early dinner booked saturday at 6pm. Obviously very quiet as we were early birds! Restaurant was livening up as we left. Lovely location, decor and the staff were friendly and prompt with service. We had the 25% a la carte menu. Very good value for money. Only small gripe was the music they had playing in the background, reminded me of a chicken in a basket type restaurant from the 80's. We would have prefered something a bit more authentic.

They have the best mussamum curry I have ever had!

Thai on the River provides very good if not outstanding food. Service is extremely friendly and the river view to die for.

Thai on the River is a lovely Thai restaurant but without the 50% special offer on the food, I think it's quite pricey. Parking nearby is difficult.

SJ reviewed Thai on the River on 12/03/2009

Thai on the river was a pleasant evening out. Not quite as 'on the river' as i thought and the view isnt that great, plus the train overhead is pretty noisy. Food was lovely though and excellent value for money with 50% deal.

JW reviewed Thai on the River on 19/03/2009

It was a beautiful setting and I imagine many more visits during the summer months when the river view will be breath-taking. As it was early evening it was very quiet so we experienced excellent service. The food was lovely and I will definitely refer friends.
Only problem was parking as there wasn't a car park but the local roads do pay and display so as long as you can find a space this can be managed. Also far from the local train (overground) station, so buses are the best option.

Thai on the River is a firm favourite and continues to delight with great food, atmostphere and service. The TopTable makes it affordable to go there regularly too.

SR reviewed Thai on the River on 12/03/2009

I always find the whole evening at Thai on the River a perfect time, from the greeting on arrival to that on departure, the food was perfect as was the service, apart from the waiter who I thought was cold to customers, I had not seen him there before.

Think this place would be good in the summer. Great location etc. Starter was good, but mains pretty average. Wouldn't have wanted to pay full price for the food. They charge for the apparently 'complimentary' prawn crackers too which I thought was a bit cheeky

Thai on the River has a lovely setting & nice decor, & the food was mostly delicious. There were just a couple of little things that let it down, one being the main course was tepid & served on a cold plate, when we told the waitress this she just said ok and took the plate away - not sure she really understood? And our battered King prawns arrived in breadcrumbs rather than batter! But we didn't bring this to their attention as we were at least enjoying the other mouth-watering prok ribs dish!

was really impressed with the service and the staff which for me was definitely the greatest asset. Although I went during the winter, I can imagine this restuarant is a lovely place in the summer time, with seating and tables on the riverfront. The food was very good and gracious portion sizes, although perphaps a little on the expensive side for the full price menu.

This would be nice venue on nice summer evening over looking the river. The dining area was a bit cold when we arrived but the waitresses were very helpful and brought heaters which warmed us quickly. The fish was deliciously cooked. Over all the food was pricy but at 50% off food price, was good value for money .

Thai on the River is a little out the way but a lovely local - the menu isnt too adventurous but their portions are fair and the food is of a high standard - especially Som Tum and other favourites so what they do they do very very well! Read other reviews where service was slow but found them to be very courteous and very efficient. With the 25% off price was better value but prices a little on the high side for location/ambiance normally. I would still highly recommend here for a good Thai.

ES reviewed Thai on the River on 16/03/2009

Thai on the River was great, calming atmosphere and good food with 50% off. Service is still a little slow but I don't like being rushed so its fine by me.

Bill Bloom reviewed Thai on the River on 11/03/2009

What attracted me to Thai on the River was it's lovely location - right by the river, with great views.
Super service, fine food and friendly and attentive staff. The only thing I could find fault with was the music! Change that, and this is a pretty prefect place.

AG reviewed Thai on the River on 10/03/2009

Thai on the river is a must visit...Food excellent and reasonably priced is you are taking advantage of special offers. The only problem that we had when we visited is that the area we sat in was cold....
