Description of The Abbeville
The Abbeville is a romantic and charming gastro pub in London's Clapham South. The restaurant is decorated with an eccentric collection of 16th century paintings and mismatched wooden chairs and tables. In the winter months the crackling open fire and comfort-food menu provide the perfect backdrop for cosy meals with friends or loved ones, and in the summer you can sit outside in the sunny courtyard and sip Pimms to your heart's content. The menu boasts assured classics such as pea and mint soup, homemade beef burgers with cheddar cheese, onion chutney and French fries and corn cakes served with a Portobello mushroom and baked with goat's cheese. The Abbeville is an atmospheric local gem.

The Abbeville Reviews

The Abbeville truly cocked up our order, with the fish arriving 30mins after the rest of the mains. However the more than made up for it with free desserts and the fish was free. So all good.

The Abbeville always serves good food at reasonable prices. It's a great winter pub as it's so cosy

Went to the Abbeville for a family sunday lunch. We were sat in the middle of the room which felt a bit exposed, think the seats round the corner would be more cosy. Staff were friendly and attentive and food was comforting and pleantiful. Nice little local place, probably wouldn't travel miles to get there tho. Prefer the Anchor and Hope in Waterloo as far as gastro pubs go. But in saying that it was very tasty and I would return.

Good reasonably priced Sunday lunch. Service very friendly and atmosphere generally relaxed. Sadly we were sat next to a table of objectionable parents/screaming children that had clearly got lost and mistaken a pub for a nursery....

My boyfriend and I took my parents to the Abbeville for lunch yesterday and had a thoroughly good time. The menu is not too extensive, which I feel probably led to the high quality of the variety of dishes we ordered. The meats were cooked perfectly and the wine was good. It is slightly more expensive than the average Sunday lunch but well worth it.

Booked through toptable for The Abbeville for a specific tie, assumed everything okay only to be phoned on the morning of the lunch booking to change the time. Otherwise excellent roast dinners all round

Liked the general ambience of the place and the food was reasonable (scallops were nice), however my main course wasn't very hot (chips were almost cold) and they got one of the steaks wrong (medium instead of rare). Also said they did cocktails on the preview, but when we got there were told they didn't. Overall had a good time as they was a large group of us, and the staff were friendly, but wouldn't be rushing back.

The abbeville has fantastic ambiance - very cosy and lots of chatter. the food was very tasty. We all had the lamb shank, which was a little dry - this would be my only real fault as it was very flavoursome.

A bit hit and miss...on a Friday night, pub was busy (as it always is) a nice atmosphere. The server was obviously very busy but very polite and friendly. My boyfriend ordered tomato and basil soup and sea bass, I had the red onion and tomato tart and sirloin steak. My boyfriend's food was lovely (in particular the beurre blanc sauce) although mine was distinctly average. Go but be careful what you order...

Abbeville is small, cute pub with friendly staff and lovely food, might come in again as live localy, although bit pricey for a pub meal.
