Description of The BeaconThe Beacon bar and restaurant is in Rusthall, near Tunbridge Wells, and has what must be some of the most fabulous views of any pub in England. You can sit outside in summer and gaze over the green hills of Kent, while enjoying anything from a bowl of home-made soup to a three-course meal. Start with goat's cheese, tomato and red onion bruschetta with red pepper hummus, then dig in to rump of lamb on a tomato and Bayonne ham Provençale vegetables, topped with crispy sweet potato shavings. Throw in the raspberry pannacotta and even the most Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells would be a happy chappy.
We had a good family meal at the Beacon, choice was broad and well presented. Only marred by an undercooked piece of roast pork and over cooked game strogonoff, but that still tasted nice. The chocolate torte was excellent , light and fluffy. Would return to eat if occasion arose.

The Beacon Rusthll. My only criticism was with Top Table. One hour befoe we were expected, the restaurant phoned to see if we were actually coming. Top Table had never confirmed!

Sunday lunch at The Beacon was ok. We in in there for a long lazy lunch so didn't mind that it took ages to place our order. Once our orders were placed however, the food came out in good time. I had the halibut which was a bit dry but otherwise ok. My partner had the roast pork (beef and lamb were finished) which was what you would expect. Pub had a nice local feel and as visitors we also felt welcome. View is fantastic from the outside deck.

The Beacon is a really nicely set pub. The view is spectacular as advertised, and the outside seating is a great place to enjoy a drink on a warm evening. My girlfriend and I sat inside for our meal, and the food was excellent, very tasty indeed! The only thing that let it down slightly was the fact that the bar area is open to the main restaurant room, and there was a rather large party in the bar who were a bit noisy. Ultimately though, we still had a great time. Recommended!
