Description of The Cat's Back
The Cat's Back in Wandsworth is, frankly, a dream pub. Standing in elegant defiance among identikit 'riverside living' flats, it is one of London's most wonderful locals; a proper boozer with it own unmistakable identity. Magical junk-shop décor, vintage soundtrack, occasional live music, corking real ales and ciders, massive Sunday lunches and down-to-earth punters create a moody haven for chain-pub haters who like to keep this special secret to themselves. We don't blame them. While bar snacks can be snuffled by the fire, bigger meals are reserved for upstairs where a gorgeous Pandora's Box of a dining room serves a beautifully British menu with a moreish Mediterranean angle, and a wine list to match. Be prepared to fall in love with The Cat's Back. Instantly.
Additional information for The Cat's Back
The Cat's Back's Dickensian doors are open to parties any time, any day (bar Christmas and New Year). The kitchen's just as flexible, offering a la carte, reduced a la carte, set, canapé, kids and drinks only menus. Private events can be enjoyed in the old-world elegance of the red-walled function room where a pool table (if you want it) stands next to an oblong dining table, kookily inviting a game between courses. Drinks by the fireplace downstairs make a fittingly cosy start or close to a party. Belly dancers can be organized on request. Air-conditioned. Wheelchair access and disabled toilet.
