Description of The Clerkenwell Dining Room
The Clerkenwell is definitely one for the little black book while in the City. The menu is modern European with occasional touches of 'Michelin'- style, mixed with gutsy flavours and combinations, recently awarded two AA Rosettes. The two owners are keen to maintain informality and affordability. The relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere means The Clerkenwell is suitable for both business meetings and casual meals. Before settling down to a delicious dinner, have a cocktail or two in the intimate bar lounge area. It's open from 12pm everyday for lunch, and then opens again at 6pm every evening until late. This bar is open to diners and non-diners and offers a full cocktail list, beers, wines and champagne.

Additional information for The Clerkenwell Dining Room
The Clerkenwell's fabulous private dining room seats up to 40 guests and has its own private bar at mezzanine level. It is perfect for private dinner parties, working lunches and buffet style dining. Menus are available for groups, depending on how many guests, including a la carte, reduced a la carte and bespoke party menus.

The Clerkenwell Dining Room Reviews

Not particularly impressive exterior but nicer from the inside, the menu is expensive but affordable with the top table offer of £25 for 3 courses, and for a change had the choice of the whole menu instead of a very minited 2/3 courses. Duck salad for starter was excellent and chicken for main was very nice, slightly dissapointing dessert but overall very nice

Nice food - the Cote de Boeuf was fantastic. We used the 20% off but it was still pretty expensive...they add an "optional" 12.5% service charge which comes out as quite a lot! Also the restaurant itself was very cold...bit annoying. But food = A-grade.

The staff were amazing and all four of us were incredibly impressed with the food. There was a Christmas party upstairs, which was a little raucous but that's to be expected this time of year. What we were really impressed with is that one of our party can't eat certain foods, and the waiter was lovely about this, and brought her the perfect meal. Would thoroughly recommend thsi restaurant.

booked this restaurant on a 50% off deal. it was the first night of a new menu.
entrance hallway carpet really needs to be replaced. it is really worn and pretty grubby. a poor first impression.
room was fine but not particuilarly characterful. now, it was the first night of a new menu but i and my dining companion found two of the 4 dishes over salted. a hake fillet with squid potage was too salty and a veal risotto was also somewhat too salty.
on the deal the value is ok (about £35pp).

Amazing food, perfectly cooked and well presented. Also very good service.

I've been to Clerkenwell Dining Rooms before and always enjoyed it, but my wife never hadbut she absolutely loved just about everything, particularly noting how good the food and the service was. We both had rump of lamb and (neck?) lamb hotpot with spinach and it was simply superb. Her soup was exquisite as was my bresaola and the puddings were superb (recommend the creme brulee with Christmas spiced cream). We don't ike the same wines so the wide choice of wine as 1/2 bottle carafes was great.

First visit with a friend to the Clerkenwell Dining Room, and everthing proved excellent having chosen 3 courses for £25.
Pleasant welcoming ambience, friendly service; varied menu with interesting combinations, beautifully cooked and presented; well chosen wine-list. A very pleasant evening,
and we will be back.

Visited the Clerkenwell Dining room early on a Tuesday night and although it was quiet there were a couple of other parties there, so a reasonable atmosphere for such an early evening booking and it filled up quickly. Food was delicious and wine very good too. Great value with the 50% off food offer, but would be a little bit too pricey without. Would definitely recommend in future!

I really enjoyed my evening at this restaurant which was new to me and my friends. The food is a little pricey but really well presented and very tasty. The service was also good although we were served by a number of different waiters. The restaurant was not packed, but there were enough people to create a good ambience. I would definitely go back again.

The Clerkenwell Dining Room is a lively little gem in the City. The menu was very good and the food was excellent and very well presented. Apart form being a little too noisy, we all enjoyed our evening and would recommend this restaurant and would go back there again. If the service was perfected this restaurant could earn itself a Michelin Star. So try it before everyone finds out about it.

This is my 2nd visit to The Clerkenwell. Previously, I had 3 courses for £19.50 but this time TT's offer of 50% off is still worth it, having had 3 courses for £20. The steak tartare and complimentary parsnip soup were tasty. The tuna steak was not as juicy but it is a difficult fish to perfect and the best I have had has only been at Boxwood. The praline parfait was as expected but the waffle could be nicer if it was heated. The food on my 1st visit was better but it's the choice of dishes

On a cold, January evening we received a very warm and courteous welcome at The Clerkenwell Dining Room. The sparsely tabled dining room encouraged attentive service which was always given with a smile. The lack of sides dishes with main courses was indeed unecessary (as suggested by our waitor) due to the provision of both an amuse bouche and petits fours.

The food is recommended and with 50% off the a la carte menu this was a bargain of an evening.

I would return even without a discount.

Wernt to the Clerkenwell Dining Room yesterday for lunch. Came to £18 a head for two courses, no wine, including service, with the Toptable 50% off deal.

That's a good price for the quality of the food and restaurant, but it's not amazing value. It would definitely be overpriced without the offer.

Food was excellent, service was very good and it's a nice atmosphere. I'd recommend it.

Great food at the Clerkenwell Dining Room - haven't been there for a couple of years but was pleasantly surprised. Service was really friendly and helpful. Good wine and v reasonably priced

With the 50% off deal it is definitely excellent value. The food and service were great and they were more than accommodating in adapting the food to ensure it was gluten free for my mum. Would definitely recommend.

Very professional on arrival, coats taken and seated quickly. We chose the steak to share, which was on arrival wasn't really a great piece (lots of fat), which was disappointing. The chips were fine (not a lot of them) and we were given a large bunch of watercress - difficult to eat without dressing! We were brought a complimentary small cup of parsnip soup - nice but very salty, so don't order if on menu! Desserts were nice - and I never thought I'd say this, but the creme brulee was too big!

The Clerkenwell Dining Room has great tasting food, great staff and was decent value for money with the top table discount. The BBQ Quail was tastey and the Beef very well prepared.
