Description of The Contented Vine
In the heart of Pimlico, the Contented Vine is a genuine local's brasserie where at least half the diners chatting around the candlelit tables on any given night are regulars. The heart of the place is, naturally, the main dining room, which has a convivial bar on one side. An English/European menu leans towards fresh, meaty mains, among which the spit roast free range chicken and house burger are constant favourites. Chefs are on view behind the glass screen and everything is freshly prepared. At least one starter, main and dessert are changed every week. More reasons to go? Friendly service and an award-winning international wine list with 20 wines sold by the glass. On Sundays, a great value roast is served between 12pm and 3pm. A reliably good neighborhood restaurant.

This month we are celerbrating chocolate week - 16th to 20th october.

Additional information for The Contented Vine
The Contented Vine's charming, airy, first-floor gallery is available for corporate and private parties of up to 40. Twenty can be sat at one table. The atmospheric 24-cover cellar and the secret garden (18 seated / 30 for drinks) it leads to are unique settings for a private lunch or candlelit dinner - perhaps dinner in the cellar with champagne in the garden first, or a barbecue in the lovely walled garden with a private tasting in the cellar? Menus can be tailored to your event. Good selection of champagnes. The traditional, dark wood bar makes a nice, convenient spot for pre-dinner drinks.

The Contented Vine could be much more. Cosy and tucked away the menu is standard and competently executed but not good value - even with the 20% discount, everything was well overpriced.

The Contented Vine was a pleasant restaurant for a Sunday lunch. Quiet atmosphere, good quality food (though not outstanding). Nice selection of wine.

The contented vine is my local bistro. It is perfect for a relaxed Sunday lunch in pleasing surroundings followed yb a potter around Pimlico. Service charge and cover charge are a bit steep considering given the less than perfect service. Wine list is extensive and worth a look.

We booked for an early supper for 3 at the Contented Vine. The staff were friendly and it was a nice enough place but the food was very average and overpriced. £12 for 3 odd fishcakes and a sidesalad with bottled salad dressing on seemed steep. The burger and chips my father ordered was probably the highlight - great chips and a tasty burger but let down by some leaves out of a bag and bottled creamy dressing. Just nothing special for special prices

The Contented Vine is a little off the beaten track and certainly not one of these glamorous west end restaurants but fitted the bill perfectly for us that evening.

It was cosy & the kind of place where you could go on your own and no-one would think twice about it. One gentleman had his bottle of red decanted for him at the table and I think that summed up the place for me. Starters were all great to the point that one of my guests had cheese souffle for dessert. Will definately be back

Great restaurant, and consistently good quality food. I've never had a bad night at the Contented Vine.

My Guinea Fowl was delicious and the wine we had was superb. My partner was brought the wrong main course initially which put a dampner on the evening but we were looked after well. Probably best to go at the weekend when it's a bit busier.

CV serves pretty plain food, which to me looked more promising on the menu, however my two companions were pleased with their green curry and roast duck. The starter of goat's cheese salad was, again, tasty but not special in any way- the food has a canteen feel to it. The highlight of the evening was Lebanese wine, which was reasonably priced (by comparison) and delicious. Also had a nice almond tart for dessert. Very pleasant if somewhat slow service. And it was cold inside, so wear something warm!

The Contented Vine had a lovely atmosphere and looks very cosy. Food was nothing to shout about though and there was a lot of fat on my pork belly which hadn't been crisped up. One of the plates was dirty and the waiter slammed things down on the table. A bit of a shame as this place has got a lot of potential.

The service veered towards efficient but lacked any charisma. Chicken liver starter was fine but why three quarters of a slice of less than crisp toast with a decent slab of pate? The venison casserole was great, the coucous with it truly terrible, roast pheasant mediocre and occasionally dry & smacked of a pub lunch, both puddings were delicious. Wine from bottle poured into glass with lipstick marks, pointed it out & the glass was taken away with wine, had to ask if it would be replaced. BLAH

We were all very happy with our meal and the service. One of our guests is a chef and he was very impressed with standard of all the courses. We know we will be going back.

We arrived at the Contented Vine soaking wet from a downpour and we were very warmly welcomed with clothes being dried on a radiator. Overall the ambience was friendly and service good. Unfortunately my wife's fishcakes were over salty and she could not eat them. Again the staff were very apologetic and offered a free glass of wine as compensation. We did not have another course so could not judge the remainder of the menu.

The toilets were basic and, in the gents, no means of drying hands.

I enjoyed our meal at the Contented Vine, the food was incredibly good- with one of the best steaks I've had in a while. The service was friendly and there is a nice homely feel about the place- the only down side was that we were slightly suprised at the price at the end! I'd recommend it to anyone who lives in the area, but probably not worth a trek across London.

The Contented Vine is a quiet, individual little place. Had a very tasty, good sized Thai Green Curry and would reallyrecommend the Chocolate Pot. Not super for veggies but then few places are. Will probably go back soon.

We dined at The Contented Vine on a rainy Friday night but found the place still quite busy. Dishes were served very fast, in fact I would have liked it slower. The food portions were large and very tasty, though the sauce on the pork belly was a bit overpowering. Over all the food was really nice and I would recommend it. Only complaint was having to debate with the wait staff over whether or not we could use the special offer. Although not a big issue, it wasn't a nice way to end the evening.

We had superb relaxed unhurried lunch at The Contented Vine . Outside was pre christmas chaos inside was an oasis of calm . The menu covers pretty much all the bases and the wine list compliments superbly. The service was smiling attentive and knowledgable. The spit roast chicken and the trio of fish cakes were the highlights .A real gem 5 minutes from Victoria we will definitely visit again.
