Description of The Gun
Bang bang, you're fed. And watered too, or given something stronger, if you fancy it. The Gun is a gorgeous listed pub by the Thames that's had a painstaking, and tasteful, restoration and been kitted out with a mouthwatering chef, Micky O'Connor. 'Recently awarded 'Best Gastropub' by Time Out and a finalist in the ITV Restaurant Awards, The Gun serves the highest quality British food with emphasis on the finest fresh fish bought daily from nearby Billingsgate Market. Unusually for a pub, the wines are seriously worth the trip. You can sip your drink and contemplate the Millennium Dome and its future, or just drink and dine very well indeed.

The Gun Reviews

It is difficult to find fault with this cosy, clean, contemporary restaurant. The staff are just so professional and personable, the food delicious, the décor comfortable. Just, perhaps, it gets a little noisy so becomes quite difficult to hold a conversation. Otherwise - perfect! Thanks for a lovely evening.

Booked at 'The Gun' for Xmas Eve and elected to have the A La Carte menu rather than the Xmas menu mainly because most of the Xmas menu was included on the A La Carte which was a little more extensive. Ambience was very good and the place had a great feel to it. Food and service were also very good. Partridge (x2) was overcooked if I were to be picky but overall this was a very lovely evening and good value for a 3 course meal, coffee, a bottle of wine and soft drinks for £83 per couple.

Located in the heart of Docklands, The Gun boasts a wonderful history and outstanding food.

The Foie gras and chicken liver parfait with vanilla jelly, toasted sour dough was a deliciously delicate introduction to the meal. This was followed by stuffed breast of goose, creamed Brussels sprouts, ratte potatoes, foie gras velouté - utterly mouth watering. For dessert the dainty Christmas pudding with brandy butter proved a fitting conclusion to a magical dinner. I will definitely be back!

Myself and my friends loved our experience at The Gun. We had the pleasure of eating in the River Room (private dining room) and received incredible service and delicious food while observing the magnificent river views. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food was beautifully presented and of good value for money. I highly recommend the private dining experience for large groups and believe that The Gun is a great gastropub which I will happily go back to again.

Perhaps slightly overpriced but the food and venue are excellent. Service can be hit and miss.

Had a very enjoyable birthday lunch for my sister at The Gun. The Sunday roast serves were large, the service was much better than normal (for London) and the food very nice - particularly the crab salad, the beautifully cooked pink beef and crunchy roast potatoes.

The Gun - lovely place for a sunday lunch; great food- foie gras and roasts were excellent , fantastic service (we were with a friends couple and their young baby and the staff was extremely helpful with everything from finding the most convenient table, heating up the puree, etc...) and lovely surroundings. we will definitely come back soon, in winter or in summer to take advantage of the terrace and lovely view!

Second time at the Gun. Service was friendly but slow. Food was good, but not to the same standard as the previous time.

I really like The Gun, great food informal atmosphere but with good service. My only gripe is that this was the third time I've been and they seem to get the reservation time wrong each time. Otherwise, its fantastic.

The Gun is very much a local and it always lives up to expectations. The service is nothing short of excellent and the staff can never do enough. Food was excellent and the staff didn't pester us but allowed to take our time over each course. Some people may question value for money but as an overall evening out experience excellent as always.

I went to The Gun for lunch with a few work colleagues and the food once again was sublime. I started with foie gras which was very light and tasty followed by the venison which just melted. Can't wait to go back again. Fabulous.

The Gun was a nice Gastro pub and the service was quite friendly. The food was well presented and tasted nice but I thought it was very overpriced for what it was.
