Description of The House
The House is an exciting pub with a dining room that has undoubtedly become a home away from home for Islingtonians in the know. It's the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Jeremy Hollingsworth and equally accomplished manager Barnaby Meredith, who have both enjoyed brilliant careers with the Marco Pierre White group, among others. The House is a smart, informal space with art deco influences and a theatre-style kitchen, so you can watch what Jez is up to in there, and not to be forgotten, the sun-drenched terrace perfect for summer time. There are home-made breads and ice creams, and the menu is an inventive, though traditional, British carte. The emphasis is on good, honest food at reasonable prices. Try starter of stilton, red onion and rocket salad with peppered beef fillet and bleu cheese dressing followed by braised oxtail in pate brick with mash and red wine sauce, and pud of creme brulee. After dinner they trundle round a trolley of stunning liqueurs, so be warned.

Additional information for The House
The House has already hosted Martin Clunes' birthday party and is expected to be a venue of choice for Islingtonians who know what they're about. Rent the entire venue, or just the dining room, set apart by an oval bar. There's great outside space, too. Private parties get their creative juices flowing and the staff are enthusiastic and very versatile. What's cooking? Good, honest British menu with pretty amazing canapes. For meals, try starter of fish soup with saffron, rouille, croutons and gruyere, main of roast rack of lamb with shallot crust and gratin dauphinoise, and pud of hot chocolate pudding with coffee ice cream.

Great food beautifully presentated - some of it you could imagine being presented to you in a top restaurant.. Tasted good too and decent portion sizes. Good customer service. It's quite pricey for what is essentially a pub though.

A wonderful atmosphere and amazing food. The wine list had a good selection and reasonable prices. They have a great variety of food from roasts to pork belly, to scallop brscetta. A must!

My boyfriend and I ate at House to celebrate my birthday. I have to say that House has quickly become our new favourite restaurant!!!! The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food that you get and the overall service, atmosphere. In addition to stellar food at reasonable prices, we had amazing service. Within seconds they were taking our drink order and bringing bread to the table. They had a selection of bread.

The House was as always very good. Was quite surprised how quiet it is in the week at lunchtime as I have only ever been before in the evening. Good food and great service.

The House serves great food with very fresh and tasty ingredients. It took a while to get our food which was odd with only 2 other parties in the restaurant but it didn't disappoint on arrival. Great couches and fireplace.

Good food, good service. The only remark is that they put the table too nearby one to each other. I really suggest to try the Lemon Tart: it's delicious

I have been to House many times before and it never fails to impress! A lovely setting (helped by the unusually sunny day which meant that we could sit outside) and delicious food (the roast beef is to die for) with good service. I will be back!

We went to the House to celebrate my birthday and didnt really know what to expect. Restaurant or gastro pub? The ambience was fantasitc, the restaurant was quite buzzy but not too loud, wine was great and the freshly made bread was delicious. After all that its a shame to say the food was very good.... but not amazing and expensive at £100 for two people (2 courses). We would definitely go back again but maybe not for an evening meal as it just didnt quite achieve what it set out to do.
