Description of The Light Restaurant and Bar
A lively, buzzy, stylish eatery and meeting place in an exciting part of town. The Light is a newcomer on the Shoreditch scene which is attracting lots of positive attention. The funky decor and French/Mediterranean menu, attract a young, vivacious crowd, including city folk, media and design types. Lunch is busy, evenings romantic, and you won't have to shout your sweet nothings over the pulsing background music, because there isn't any. Aaah, start with a half-dozen oysters served with shallot vinaigrette, pickled lemon and chilli salsa, either with a pint of Guinness or a glass of champagne. Main favourites include oxtail in crepinette, with celeriac puree, roast shallots and root veg. Blistering wine list.

The Light Restaurant and Bar Reviews

We went to the Light Bar as a table of 22, so we had to preorder our food from a limited menu which the chef had arranged for us. We had a fab time, the service was brilliant and the food was delicious. Would really recommend for a large group as the staff are so helpful and amenable.

Great specials and service, with an interesting menu and view of the cheerful chefs at work, this is a great place to go in the City then to visit the bar or surrounding Shoreditch afterwards. What a shame they're knocking it down!

The Light Restaurant is set in quirky, airy surroundings. It was pretty quiet when we got there - but the food was lovely and we would definitely go back there..maybe when there are a few more people in it!

The Light is a beautiful venue in the heart of London, great food, good choice and the 2 courses for £12 is a much needed and rated deal !

Great Oysters and love the Lamb for the main course. Deserts were not great and did not eat mine, waitress did not seam that bothered either.
Overalll I do like the food in The Light and would go back again.

Gorgeous meal, friendly service, the only criticism would be that they could do with some air conditioning in the restaurant. We were sat right next to the open kitchen and left feeling rather warm and somewhat greasy.

Nice food. Shame TopTable didn't phone through my reservation!

What better way to 'Save the Light' than to eat (and drink) there on a busy Friday night? Unbelievable that this beautiful building could be under threat but it appears so. Escaping the throng of the bar to the peace of the restaurant was like stepping into a calm oasis. Fabulous service (we were the last to leave by some way!) and some good solid food made for a very civilised 'protest' against the ubiquitous developers.
