Description of The Lobster Pot
A tiny place about which much has been written and all of it intriguing - ranging from alarmed descriptions of the kitsch nautical decor, surreal recordings of seagulls and ocean waves to the highest praise for the genuinely French cooking. Fish and seafood are the thing, with a few offerings for unrepentant carnivores. The bouillabaisse is reckoned a triumph by those who know, as is the plateau de fruits de mer. Lots of couples, a few government types as it's within the Division Bell. Le patron mange ici. Go and cast yourself adrift in oceans of seafood. What's cooking? For starters we particularly enjoyed the fresh mussels with garlic, tomato and cream sauce and the grilled prawns with homemade garlic butter followed by the grilled fillet of tuna and the seabass with a cream, pernod and wild mushroom sauce. For dessert the pancakes are a must - believe me!! Please note that the restaurant will only hold your table for 15 minutes - unless made aware of delay...

The Lobster Pot Reviews

The Lobster Pot is a lovely little resturant. We chose the 8 course lobster taster menu. All of the courses were delicious, my favourite dish was the lobster tail served on a wild mushroom and pernod sauce. The service was not hurried and excellent. I have already started recommended this resturant to friends.

We always enjoy our evenings at the Lobster Pot. The fish is fantastic, the restaurant is characterful if a little kitsch and the service is always good. Vegetable accompaniments are not quite up to the standards of the fish itself and more of a side garnish but all in all we love coming here and their personal touches and attention to detail make a welcome change from generic chain restaurants.

I went to the Lobster Pot with my family for my birthday meal and everyone was extremely impressed. The service was efficient and friendly without being intrusive. The food was amazing and great value for money in comparison to most seafood restaurants in London. The winelist was impressive and the atmosphere was very kitsch and fun. I can't wait for the next excuse to go!

The Lobster Pot lived up to the reputation from previious reviews. The food and service were excellent.

The Lobster Pot continues to serve excellent fish and seafood in colourful surroundings by eccentric staff. Can you ask for more than that? Well, it can be a little on the pricey side but we did push the boat out and go for the 8 course surprise. Oysters and razor clam starters were fabulous. Delighted that they have opened another venue next door. Good luck.

We went to the Lobster Pot to celebrate our daughter's 1st birthday. It was nice food and service was really good, but this place isn't really child friendy. The restaurant is really small and cramped, and I felt everyone looking at us when my daughter made a little noise, which she was actually very well behaved! Someone even complained and we were requested to stop taking photos (of our daughter) which put a right downer on the evening :( Would recommend this place but to adults only!

A truly quirky yet delightful culinary experience! We had the 8 courses and everything was delicious, especially the john drory. We especially loved the chance to speak a little French and interact with the head chef. Be sure to try the piano wine bar next door!

The Lobster Pot is a hidden gem; from the outside it resembles a chip shop while inside the nautical kitsch somehow pulls together to a charming whole. Service was very pleasant. The already extensive fish menu is complimented by additional seasonal specials - the large choice sending us into a spin of indecisiveness. All food that we had was wonderful, seasoning and sauces respecting the delicate flavours of the fish and even a cajun coating didn't overpower. Definitely have dessert. A winner!

Great food, unexpected venue. Starter, mains dessert all excellent, we will be returning!

I would recommend The Lobster Pot as quite a unique dining experience, with flamboyant décor that verges on kitsch without being tacky. Food was very good, the service was excellent, and I would definitely go again.

The Lobster pot was a great venue. I booked for my wife birthday and asked for a nice table. They treated us with the beast table in the restaurant, normally for 4, just for the 2 of us. My wife started with the soupe de poisson, which was as good as it gets, super fresh and tasty. then she had the lobster flambe au whisky! She was delighted. the succulent taste of roasted lobster flamed with spirit in front of us was the clou du spectacle! Mine was plateau de fruit de mer and bouillabaisse! TOP
