Description of The Montagu
Situated over Portman Square, The Montagu sits comfortably in the posh surroundings of the Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill. Like the Prime Minister of the same name, it's also big on classic British favourites, making it much loved by not only guests of the hotel, but its neighbours as well. Try Loch Fyne mussels and clams or the most British of dishes, deep-fried cod and chips with homemade tartare sauce. Don't miss beautifully done puds, including an apple tart with honeycomb ice cream. Beautiful afternoon teas are also available, perfect for taking in the tranquil views over the picturesque gardens. A member of the Tea Council's prestigious 'Tea Guild', The Churchill is the ideal venue for a traditional Afternoon Tea. Overlooking the picturesque gardens of Portman Square, the calm and contemporary colours of The Montagu offers a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The Montagu Afternoon Tea offers a selection of traditionally British, thinly sliced finger sandwiches and warm fruit and plain scones with strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream. The sandwiches fillings are changed daily and are created to match with the mix of white, brown and flavoured (such as tomato, carrot or rye) bread. The warm scones are served with generous portions of strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream. The Patissier's selection includes French pastries and fruit tartlets and mini desserts, which also change daily. The Montagu and Churchill Afternoon Teas are served with a fine selection of the exquisite JING Teas including Jing Sapphire Earl Grey, Darjeeling 2nd Flush, Organic Bohea Lapsang, Organic Silver Needle and Hand rolled Jasmine Pearls, recognized as some of the finest in the world. Afternoon Tea is served every day between 3 - 6pm.

Very nice experience, pleasant and humorous service. The set menu was delicious so we are eager to try out the a la carte next time around.

I recently went to The Montagu with some friends to enjoy a very civilised dinner. The venue was modern and spaceous and the toilets had very nice molton brown products. The food was great and very tasty, extreme value for money. I enjoyed the fact that the kitchen was open plan and you got to enjoy watching the chef's do their work.

The Montagu was somewhat disappointing. By 8pm on a Friday night, it is rather unimpressive that they ran out of the meat option on a very limited set menu. Drinks were exceptionally expensive (£5 for a glas of orange juice!), and service not especially friendly. The food, when it came, was fairly good, but no better than similar options in central London. OK, but not amazing.

Food was very good but the starters in particular took a fairly long time to arrive. And mine was wrong. Staff are good though and the lunch was enjoyable.

I have been to The Montagu for a business lunch. Very Good Service, Food was great. Not too noisy and not too stuffed to get some work done here. I would choose it again for this purpose.

Montagu was pleasant but I thought the menu was a bit boring. I cannot fault the service and the restaurant but the food we had from the menu was not particularly amazing.

We dined at The Montagu before a recital at the Wigmore Hall (6/7 minutes' walk away). We had the 3 course set menu and the food was excellent - for 2, with a before dinner drink, 2 glasses of wine and coffees it was just under £100. A lovely relaxing place for a pre-concert supper. Lovely, attentive but discreet servive. Recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Montagu, the service was very good and they made the duck starter into a main course for me. My partner loved the salmon.

We went to Montagu for a team lunch and the TT offer 2 course 18.50 including half a bottle of wine is amazing. Everyone enjoys it and finds it good value in central London. Will recommend to people for business lunch.

The Montagu has a surprisingly good atmosphere for a hotel restaurant -sometimes they can be quite flat. The whole bar and restaurant area is open plan and the open kitchen makes a good point of interest too -it all creates a vibrancy. The food was good, but not as execeptional as I would have expected from a restaurant of this reputation. Staff were pleasant but a bit slow at times - our plates were cleared 15 minutes after we had finished our starters.

I brought my mother to The Montagu for a birthday treat and it did not disappoint. We went for the lunch menu on a Saturday which was excellent value. My mother's smoked salmon starter was to kill for and our mains of Kentish pigeon were very good too. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, very chic and yet still warm and inviting. Would recommend the lunch menu as excellent value.

We had a lovely lunch - the setting is lovely and was pretty good value for $18.50 for two courses and half bottle of wine each. The pigeon was a bit too tough and the service was a bit patchy - but for that amount we were all happy with what we got.
