I went to the Peasant with a group of friends for my birthday and had a great night. Service was efficient but they didn't pester us, and they seated us all near the conservatory as I'd requested. Food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect. I'll definitely be going back.

Friendly, well-trained staff. Very busy mid-week evening but had a laidback ambience. My boyfriend and I felt like we were the only table in the place but it was full. Good wine list and interesting varied menu with three fish dishes. We were in the elegant upstairs restaurant and were able to sit in the outside area as it was such a nice day (though we were a little strangled by the herbs and plants on the wall next to us!) Recommended.

The Peasant remains superb. Great food, expertly cooked bursting with flavours, a well picked wine list with a great bottle for every wallet and charming, attentive staff. A great night.

I took clients here for a business meal and we were all very happy with the standard throughout. Would definitely recommend.

An early quick pre-theatre meal, so the place was quiet, but the upstairs dining room is beautiful, well furnished, lit and good table lay-out. We had two courses, both fresh, extremely well cooked and presented, and rather large servings to boot: the scallops with the ham hock terrine was a great combination, with roast halibut and bouillabaisse being light with great textures. Can't wait to go back, but this time to linger through to dessert. Has to be near the top of the gastro pub league!

Arriving late at The Peasant and rushing to Sadlers Wells was not the ideal way to sample the fare. Just us and an office party but the waitress did a great job helping us enjoy the time we had. I had fresh calamari to start and it was better than any I've had across the world - superb. The old spot to follow was done to perfection but the accompaniments could have been a little more imaginative. Washed down with a decent red made this choice for next time when we'll be sure to allow more time.

The exquisite Sunday brunch will make you reconsider every prejudice you ever had about pub food. This is not your grandad's pub.

Went for a family meal, and really enjoyed the experience. Like the fact the restaurant is separate to the pub (which is also v nice btw)
Only slight gripe is that the starters were large and quite pricey. Would be better to get smaller portion at a lower price. However, the food was well presented and very tasty overall.

Nice deck area, lovely spot for a sunny summers day.
Food was great, I recommend the duck.

We visited the Peasant on a Wednesday evening and it was VERY quiet - with just one other couple eating upstairs. If we go mid week again, we will probably be eating downstairs in the bar, in order to get a better ambiance. The food was good though.

Ate upstairs at the Peasant at 6 so nobody else in the restaurant so not much ambience. a ten minute walk to Sadlers Wells so handy for the ballet. Waitress pleasant but not really attentive. My slow cooked beef would have fed 3 very tasty.

Fairly quiet but the outdoor terrace where we were sitting was full - very hot evening, and the food was brilliant with an excellent wine list. Want to go back when it's a bit cooler and sit in the brilliantly decorated interior of the restaurant - overall a great find, will be returning.

Food was lovely at the Peasant, but as it was nearly empty when we arrived the atmosphere was not as good as on previous visits. Service was friendly and I appreciated the phonecall warning me that it might be a bit noisy from building works next door (in the end it wasn't).

The Peasant proved to be an enjoyable venue for a reunion dinner. The roomy bar downstairs was pleasantly lively for a pre-dinner drink. The dining room upstairs had a different vibe, quieter, secluded - more restaurant than pub. The menu was a little limited but the dishes were a good size, well presented and very tasty. The service was the only thing that really let it down - slow and disinterested. Despite this I'd recommend this venue for a casual dinner with friends or a special occasion

A new menu - a new chef? - at The Peasant and I'd say it was still finding its feet. But the mains were excellent. And service charming.
