Description of The Place
The place is a casual restaurant at the 582-room four star deluxe Melia White House Hotel on a corner of the charming Regent's Park. Having blown the cobwebs from your hair on a stroll through the gardens, take a seat and relax in this well-proportioned classically decorated room. A generous international menu offers a mix of exciting culinary journeys, from Mexico (smoked tuna burrito with king prawns, avocado and Mexican sauce) to England (lamb cutlets, thyme sauce, vegetables and mashed potatoes) via Italy (pumpkin risotto, parmesan cheese and sage). Good choice of sandwiches and soups if you don't want a big meal. Live jazz and piano performances add that extra touch to a lovely night out.

Charming staff. Pity they were unable to bring food or bills at the correct time. Food was bland and overcooked. Decor appalling. Not great but nothing you could lay a formal complaint about.

The Place at The Melia White House Hotel in Marylebone is very much a casual hotel restaurant. It is huge, too brightly lit and the tables at the outer areas are set for breakfast. So not really a destination for dinner. However, the buffet for £22.50 was excellent value and at 50% toptable deal even better. The food was superb. If they changed the lighting, kept the outer areas of the room dark, thus making the venue much cosier, it would be a winner. And please loose the elevator music.

Food was nice and very good considering the price. The service and atmosphere at The Place generally made for a pleasant evening.

The 'Place' is certainly not the place to be seen at,the decor is dated not to mention the unusal stains on the seats the service is slow and the food was poor and lacked any flavour. Would not recomend.

Four of us went to The Place at the White House, Regents Park. The food was very good and the total bill surprisingly low at Toptable rates. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful but the only complaint was, with the dining room fairly busy, the service was too slow for the average office lunchbreak timescales.

The place was a very nice place to eat. The portions were large and the food of high quality. It was very empty when I went and so it was a little quiet and chilly. Overal a good dining experience

The Place is set within a very nice hotel. The lobster was a good price and was well cooked but the accompanying vegetables were undercooked and disappointing for over £4 a portion. The steak was also not the best tasted. Overall, an o.k. experience but a little overpriced.
