Description of The Potting Shed Restaurant
In 1787,Thomas Lord chose Dorset Square to lay down a cricket ground, which in 1814 moved a mile north to what is now known as Lords. Dorset Square Hotel - home of the Potting Shed Restaurant and Bar - is one of the regency buildings surrounding the tree-filled gardens that would have had a grandstand view of the game. If you're imagining mini-mountains of terracotta pots, seed boxes, seagrass matting, hand-painted murals and tables adorned with tiny colourful pots, you won't be disappointed. Obviously, in such surroundings only English food (with the occasional nod to Southern Europe) will do. We recommend the a la carte seared salmon on a white bean cassoulet, while we fancy the pot roast chicken with crushed parsnips from the traditional menu. But keep room for the apple and rhubarb crumble, of course. Your mother would want it that way.

Additional information for The Potting Shed Restaurant
The Potting Shed is available for private functions of up to 80 guests seated, or 120 for a drinks reception with canapés. And what canapés - do sausage éclairs, Welsh leek tartlets, mini Yorkshire puds and roast beef tickle your patriotic fancy? If you're searching for a business meeting venue, then the modern, comfortable Thomas Lord Room on the lower ground floor was designed with the prestige meeting in mind. It holds a maximum of ten around a boardroom table, ten guests for private dining, and 15 for a casual reception. It even has its own washroom and cloakroom space.

The Potting Shed Restaurant Reviews

Lunch at The Potting Shed - second time - hoping to find out why it is so highly regarded. Pleasant starters, good main course but dire dessert. The high point was the garlic mashed beans, and the low - the leathery inauthentic treacle tart. By the way, do any restaurants read the special requests? I had asked for a quiet corner table, but was shown to one in the middle of an almost empty room. I love the decor, but apart from that I can't think why people like it so much...

Very pleasant dinner at the Potting Shed. Good range of choices on the menu and wine list. The resaurant is in the basement of the Dorset Hotel but the Ambience was "cosy" for an Autumn evening.

The Potting Shed is a great little find. As a restaurant under a hotel, it was quiet and felt hotel-like, but on the plus side it was great for a relaxed dinner and chat. Food was lovely, decent portions and the set menu £17.50 for 2 courses was great value. In addition, as one of our group is a celiac, it was great to see a menu in London with specific gluten free options. Would go back.

The Potting Shed was lovely. The wine list was great, such a good selection, the food was yummy and the staff charming. Thanks!

A bit of a disappointment, the food was nice, but nothing special and for what it was it was slightly overpriced. The wine list was good and reasonable and the service was ok. They had run out of most of the beers and another waiter started hoovering half of the restaurant whilst we were eating! The decor is nice as is the location, but overall was overpriced and average.

The Potting Shed - it was fine but the welcome we were given was really bad. once past this we were looked after by attentive service though with very limited english.

The Potting Shed is a surprise, hidden away in a basement of a Hotel. We went because of the location, close to the open-air theater in Regent's Park, but were delighted with the place.

Very impressed with the potting shed. We had lunch for 5 people, and the service was impeccable. The food was fantastic, especially the puddings which were some of the best I've had in a long time. I would highly recommend.
