Description of The Rocket
Is this the coolest place in Acton? Could be. After you make your way through the claret-coloured bar, the pale minimalist palette of the dining room comes as something of a relief. The decor is an inspired pairing of New England Shaker style furniture with gilt mirrors, sparkling chandeliers, and Victorian portraits. There is a very friendly vibe here, both among the regulars and the staff. The modern Italian menu includes more than the average selection of vegetarian dishes. Starters include pepper and crab fritters with home cured salmon and dill crème fraiche, first course of caramelized pumpkin and radicchio risotto, main course of pan-fried duck breast with sweet potato mash, pancetta and Vin Santo reduction, and dessert of very nice sorbets. Wine list features procecco and off-the-beaten-path labels.

Additional information for The Rocket
The friendly atmosphere here would be enough to recommend it for parties and celebration, even if this weren't a very stylish gastropub with seriously good food. The dining room is both calm and funky, but with a pale, minimalist colour scheme that lets you know you're in grownup-land. The inventive Italian menu features a good selection of vegetarian dishes and has a nice emphasis on seafood, as well. Staff will assist you in choosing a set menu for your guests. Dishes include mixed vegetable tartare with poached quail egg, pane carasau and grilled scamorza, main course of roast double lamb cutlet with warm mixed peppers and basil salad, and dessert of chocolate fondant with strawberry jam and cinnamon ice cream. Very international wine list with an interesting choice of non-champagne sparkling wines.
