Description of The Square
The Square restaurant in London's ultra-smart Mayfair has four right angles: great food, wines, service, and location. The dining room is a refined space where you can seal a deal, celebrate a triumph, or simply dine incredibly well. Chef/owner Philip Howard has earned a pair of Michelin stars for his unique French-inspired haute cuisine using impeccable ingredients to create dishes capable of both gossamer elegance and vivid boldness all in the same bite. Everything is superb, though we particularly recommend the herb-crusted saddle of lamb with shallot puree, artichokes, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The Square's wine list - wine bible, really - runs to 80 pages of the world's finest.

The Square has 2 Michelin stars and is well-located in Mayfair. The service is both friendly and faultless, provided by the mainly French staff. The atmosphere is understated elegance, the clientele quite mature, the food and wine choice and quality are breathtaking. With all the lovely extras taken into consideration, you get what you pay. Would recommend The Square for a special dinner in central London.

The Square is a real good address in Mayfair

Having awarded The Square 10/10 in all respects there were perhaps one or two issues worth mentioning. The service at the start of our meal was a little hurried. It did get better as the evening progressed. Also, the accents of the staff were quire heavy making it difficult to understand what was being presented. Other than that - SURPERB!

Dined at The Square on Friday 5th December, and really cannot fault any aspect. the food was exquisite and the service was attentive but not intrusive, one of the nicest meals we've had in central London, would recommend this restaurnt to anyone.

We enjoyed the tasting menu (with wine) at The Square. Whilst not cheap, the food was excellent and the chosen wines were fantastic and original. This was combined with friendly staff who were attentive and not overbearing. Would highly recommend.

Although the 3-course meal cannot be rated as great value for money, the food was exceptional and service the superb. Recommended!

We had an excellent meat at The Square. They had a superb menu for my girlfriend who is vegetarian, which easily matched the excellent foie gras (yes, that does cause some debate), Seabass and Souffle that I had. Their extensive wine list, superb cheese trolley, and subtle but attentive service made it a memorable evening, and worth every penny (though it does cost lots of them :-)

The square is fantastic. Always impressive food and service. Expensive but that's what you expect with 2 Michelin stars!

Excellant as always - although very quiet, but then again it was a Monday night.

The Square: Mayfair; London
excellent wine list but not great advice from the Sommelier who was rather snobby (dare I say); superb-quality food; the service was very good but not perfect.
I would highly recommend the venued, mainly because of the quality of the food. A very good 2-starred restaurant.
