Description of Trader Vic's
Trader Vic's has been a swinging place since the seventies, decked out as a Tahitian beach hut right here on Park Lane, with flower-print waitresses plying willing clientele with the best Mai Tai's ever mixed. This is the right place for relaxed business lunches, informal dinner, or romantic meals at any time. Check out the live lobster tank before you tuck into Island cuisine. Try the Cosmo Tidbits to start, while you sip your drinks, then move on to Creole Fish Soup, or mains of Indonesian rack of lamb from the Chinese wood-fired oven, served with grilled pineapple and peanut sauce, or wok-fried Szechuan butterfly prawns. There's a serious wine list and very brisk service.

Trader Vic's has been a swinging place since the seventies, decked out as a Tahitian beach hut right here on Park Lane, with flower-print waitresses plying willing clientele with the best Mai Tai's ever mixed. How Austin Powers is that! Seriously, Trader Vic's is a bit of a scream, although with an underlying commitment to high quality food, drink and service. The Tiki Room is exactly right for parties and social meals and will transport your guests to a faraway Pacific island in a longago decade. What's cooking? Cosmo tidbits are pretty irresistable to begin with, followed by Indonesian rack of lamb from the Chinese wood-fired oven, served with grilled pineapple and peanut sauce, then cherries jubilee. There's a serious wine list and very brisk service.

A real joy to come in to Trader Vic's from the cold London weather and be instantly transported to the Sunny South Pacific!! Food was great, the mango gave the beef fillet with fois gras a real twist and cut through the richness. Excellent venue for a group dinner with various areas to take over depending on group size. Fabulous cocktail list, could have sampled them all!!

Trader Vic's has a great atmosphere in the bar with its beach hut feel and excellent cocktails (the Rum Cosmo is brilliant if you like pineapple). The restaurant in the adjoining area is less beach hut and more french bistro style with carpet. Unfortunately the service was below standards of what you would expect. A cover charge of £1.50 gets added per head (in addition to a hefty 15% service charge), just because its the Hilton's policy. Not impressive, although food was simple but good.

Trader Vic's is one of last of the original Tiki bars from the 1960's left in the world today. It's atmosphere is welcoming and unique. The food is Polynesian based and delicious and I can highly recommend the cocktails. it's not cheap but it's worth it.

Trader Vic's was mostly empty late on the Thursday. I felt the Waiters were influenced by our choice to take up the toptable special offer menu: they pushed the drinks harder - even though we had just arrived directly from the Windows cocktail bar at the other end of the lift. Trader Vic's decor is fun (a little like Blue Elephant in Fulham) but they could usefully change the hotel carpet!

11 of us met for lunch at Trader Vic's prior to an awards dinner at the Grosvenor House. The food was very good, reasonable portion sizes. A little pricey but you expect this when the restaurant is part of a group like the Hilton.
Service was quick and friendly. Overall a good place for the type of lunch we wanted

I enjoyed the evening at Trader Vics and thought the Top Table deal was a good value for money offer, although the choice is very limited (this didn't really bother me as I am not a fussy eater). However our bill was still quite large due to the fact that drinks are very expensive . The food was good on the whole, (starter of lamb satay a little tough) really enjoyed the main course of monkfish curry. Loved the selection of cocktails! Would go back particularly for the bar.

Trader Vics was a really lovely evening out. We had a party of 11 and the cocktails soon created a party atmosphere. The Manager gave us a free cocktail to start with and everything went from good to better from that point forward. The food was some of the best we've had at Trader Vics. We had a quick drink in Windows of the World beforehand - the views were great but the drinks in Trader Vics were much more fun! Thanks to everyone for a great evening.

First visit to Trader Vics with a friend. The staff were good, the restaurant was lovely, but the food was somewhat lacking. I had the Tuna and my friend had the Chicken and Prawn curry, and I think they used the same sauce for both! The bill was another disaster, they miscalculated the promotional offer and then tried arguing the toss with us. The menu choice was a disappointment, but I will probably try it again a la carte. The cocktail was great though!!

One of the best Top Table deal meals I've had - really excellent. Delicious cocktail to begin - I don't like strawberry flavour and there was absolutely no difficulty in being served with an alternative. Altogether a great night out.

Very good overall, good food and ambience. The cover charge was 15% service charge should be made clearer as this adds to the bill.

The occasion was my daughters 16th Birthday and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the service and the atmosphere at Trader Vics. The food was pretty average and pricey (for what it was) if you strayed from the Top table menu. It's a great party venue if lacking in sophistication and good kitch fun. We will probably go back with an older crowd and sample more of the fab rum based cocktails without trying to set an example !!

Trader Vics were as usual splendid - We had our Christmas Party there and everyone had a good time, far too many cocktails. Many thanks

Lunch at Trader Vic's was a mixed experience. The soup as part of the fixed price meal was quite yummy, and the starter drink (included - Mauritian cooler) was strong and sweet - and we really enjoyed it. The main courses had lots of meat or fish, but the tuna was a bit too spicy for me, and flavouring for the chicked dish could be improved. The desserts were nice. Look out for the poster as you go to the toilets!

What a wonderful meal. I was slightly apprehensive about Trader Vics, after reading some reviews, not knowing if it would be cheesy, cheap and cheerful. How wrong I was. The setting was lovely and the special offer set meal delicious. the staff were all friendly and attentive and the chocolates to take home were a lovely touch. I will definitely be returning again.
