Villandry Reviews

We expected a quiet Restaurant two days after new year but were pleasently suprised at how busy the place was. Seeing as it was full and that the waiters seemed to be rushed off their feet we expected a slow service but they were atentive. The food was straight forward well executed and nicely presented french bistro style. the Steak Tatare was perfectly seasoned and a pleasure. WIth the top table deal it was an great bargain. This is a lovely mid priced evening out although not show stopping.

I couldn't have dinner. When I arrived (at 9pm on Friday) they didn't had 60-70% of the main dishes in the menu.I had the impression they were the most expensives ones (eg:beef) as I had a 50% discount in the food . I was very dissapointed and went to another restaurant nearby.

amazed to find special Sat night offer for Villandry so booked with anticipation. Nice, brasserie food, well-prepared and served (lovelyoysters to start and ribeye to follow, others had excellent crab salad, duck cassoulet, too-pink lamb, but overall high standard.) Lovely wine but pricey (very little under £25-30 so ended up forking out £40 for a lovely Ch du Pape.) Despite 50% offer bill still came to £268 for 4 so not a cheap night out but a good one.

First time at Villandry, and we were not disappointed. Wine simply gorgeous, service attentive and friendly, and with 50% off TT deal, an absolute steal. Only slight downsides were a somewhat snobby clientele and a atmosphere that somehow lacked warmth. Mains of Scallops and Steak Tartare prompted ooohs and aahs aplenty, and the dessert menu is enough reason to visit in itself. Next time we'll go earlier and buy some snacks from the attached store on the way out!

The Villandry is a very good restaurant, albeit not in a most easily reachable locaton (Gt.Portland St.) if you are travelling by tube. The ambient was modern yet not over the top, and the atmosphere really picked up after all tables got filled. We enjoyed our meals of steak and foie gras, and would particularly recommend Chillean merlot. With a 50% discount on food, the choce of venue was justified. But please beware that service charge of 12.5% was added to the whole bill before discount.

We ate in the main restaurant at Villandry on Saturday evening. We were greeted very warmly, there was a very pleasant buzzy atmosphere and the room looked really pretty with fairie lights - could just be for Christmas though. Both our starters were lovely and my partners main of lamb was excellent also, my only criticism is I thought my fish and the carrots (paid extra for) were a little dry. There was a good reasonably priced wine list and no snobbiness about providing tap water.

We had an excellent evening at Villandry. The service was very good, even though there were various dishes off the menu it was explained straight away and alternatives suggested. The food was delicious and we all had a great time. The only negative thing was the loos were abit of a mess.

Villandry - nice food as always, but the service was quite unattentive.
