Description of Walmer Castle
Close to the chic boutiques and vintage markets in Notting Hill, The Walmer Castle is a divine little local pub on Ledbury Road that boasts a busy Thai restaurant. This vibrant gem - with a buzzing crowd, fairy lights and designer wallpaper - attracts fashionistas, creative types and local trustafarians. The menu is a delicious fusion of Thai, Indian and Indonesian flavours - our favourite dishes being the crispy aromatic duck pancakes with plum sauce, sirloin 'Weeping Tiger' steak chargrilled and served in sizzling rice wine, and chicken minced with Thai pickled turnip, chilli and garlic wrapped in iceburg lettuce. The Walmer Castle offers an excellent wine-matching service, and is the perfect place for a fun and relaxed night out with friends.

Walmer Castle is one of the best Thai restaurants in West London, the food and wine are very reasonably priced and always to a high standard. A place I will definitely visit again.

I have often frequented the Walmer Castle for a drink but never dined upstairs in the restaurant. We had a great Thai meal there. The menu is extensive and each of our dishes were delicious. The lady who "greeted" us seemed rather nonplussed but the other staff were friendly and very pleasant.

The food here was some of the best thai I have ever tasted! So many options it was hard to order. Will certainly be back. It is more at the medium to higher end of the price range for thai restaurants, but worth it for a special treat.

The Walmer Castle does great Thai food and is highly recommended. The service is slow though.

We went for a flatmates' outing to Walmer Castle in Notting Hill. I'm glad we did - the atmosphere, menu variety and food quality is much higher at Walmers'. It's a young buzzy crowd although can be quite noisy, has a good pub-like atmosphere with great decor. The menu was extensive and encouraged us to over-order as we wanted to try a variety of dishes. Great night!

The Walmer Castle has a warm, family run feeling, with a touch of class. The food is impeccable and the service was friendly. The Asian dishes tasted just like 'home' and I couldn't fault a thing. Good value for money too. I would definately visit again soon

Tuesday night and the place was full. I can't see why. Such a noisy room, it was impossible to hear our guests. The service was rather slow and the food disappointing. We started with the mixed starter which was a few very ordinary, dull bits of dim sum etc bulked out with crackers. My duck breast curry was sadly lacking in duck breast and my coconut rice had no taste of coconut. The rest of the meal ranged from a disgusting bean curd to lipstick on a glass. We didn't stay for dessert.
