Description of Waterloo Bar and Kitchen
Next door to the Old Vic, the Waterloo Bar and Kitchen invariably feeds and waters theatre fans of an evening, and by day looks after local office workers and tourists. It does a good job of providing the cosy ambience of a bistro combined with the fun of an open kitchen. Milton Steiger makes everything - from the chicken liver pate to the trio of fishcakes, and passion fruit mousse - himself. And it shows in everyone's appetite - plates are soon emptied! The menu changes every month, and every week you're offered weekly specials from around the world. Brunch is served all day, and good roasts on a Sunday. Very friendly service.

Waterloo Bar and Kitchen Reviews

We were going to the Old Vic theatre and didn't have very much time to eat beforehand, so opted for the nearest restaurant we could find. We were disappointed that the Waterloo Bar and Kitchen didn't have a pre-theatre menu but we enjoyed the two-course a la carte meals that we had, although they weren''t anything special. The total bill - including a bottle of one of the cheapest wines - worked out at £68 for the two of us, which we felt was rather pricey for a 'quick bite' before the show.

We booked the Waterloo Bar and Kitchen for our team Christmas meal and all found it thoroughly enjoyable! The food was delicious.... and very good value... the only thing that might improved things is if our Waitress could have found the time to smile!

Waterloo Bar and Kitchen remains one of the South Banks best kept secrets. From the warm welcome, throught the service paced to your expectations, this is an exceptional venue. Informal, but where you feel comortable entertaining. Excellent menu, with interesting specials (Confit of duck with Toulouse Sausages) and a good but reasonably priced wine list. Highly Recommended>

First visit to Waterloo Bar & Kitchen - liked it a lot. Good atmosphere and very well orgnaised for the pre-theatre crowds. V pleasant staff. Carpaccio starter had been over salted but I was given another one with no hesitation - and that was fine. The pork belly was terrific. Fish cakes & bream also good. Good value wine list. Would definitely come back.

The Waterloo Bar and Grill is a pleasant suprise in a great location handy for Waterloo station and away from the queues for venues on the South bank. Nice gastro pub style food and a good wine list, would recommend in particular the Gavi. Very accomodating staff with my daughter who is dairy intolerant and had a special meal cooked for her. Good value for money for the quality and ambience.

We booked here for our works xmas dinner & were impressed with the attentive service. The verdict on the food and wine was also pretty good. The only complaint I'd have is that the private room where our table was doesn't have quite as good an ambience as the main restaurant.
