Description of Woodlands - Hampstead
Woodlands Indian vegetarian restaurant in London's leafy Hampstead is the latest of a thriving group that first opened its doors in Madras in 1938. This branch has a pleasing, calm space with sleek neutral seating, exposed brick, pebbled floor, tastefully modern artwork and a water feature tinkling away. The menu focuses on South and Western Indian street food - chefs here take long training in Chennai so their renditions of the classic idli and its cousin, the dosa, are authentic to the fingertips, served with a choice of fillings and accompaniments. The service here is keen and friendly. Woodlands will make you wonder why you ever bothered with meat.

Woodlands Hampstead serves a great variety of excellent quality Southern Indian vegetarian food. Enjoyed by both my veggie and non-veggie friends!

this place was little more then we expected. We got good welcome and we made mistake of booking for 5 instead 6 ,but within minute we were organised for alternative arrangement inspite of busy evening. They did not charge us for some drinks -may be because we were from India?and we took lot of personal interest in discussing items on the list!!It had an excellent south indian cuisine and chef is from south india -Chenai.We also took french friend of ours ,and she was amazed at menu.Good experience

At Woodlands the food is amazing and the staff are so helpful. The Hampstead branch is a bit quiet during the week so atmosphere not the best but this is not a problem at weekends. However the food more than makes up for it. Cannot recommend highly enough

Excellent food. This has to be the best vegetarian Indian restaurant I have been to.
However, it was extremely quiet for a Friday night and there was only one other group there the whole night so it did lack a little atmosphere.

It's a pleasure to find a good Indian restaurant, where the food tastes as it should and the ambience is great without any hint of the artifice found at "high-end" Indian restaurants. Warmly recommended.

Woodlands Hampstead was an unexpected pleasure - have lived in the area for 3 years and only just tried it for the first time last night - totally blown away by the food and service. We weren't sure what to order so the waiter gave us a selection that was just right for 4 people and absolutely mouthwateringly divine. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough - if you like sophisticated Indian food then this is the place for you - & so cheap!! £80 for 4 of us for 2 courses. Brilliant!!!

Woodlands Hampstead made a nice change from eating meat everyday. service attentive yet they made a mistake of forgetting to give us a serviette until we asked twice. beside this, enjoyed the food.
