Description of sketch Lecture Room and Library
The Lecture Room is the one Michelin-starred restaurant at sketch and is not confined by the conventions of international cuisine. Pierre Gagnaire's culinary genius has inspired the menus throughout sketch. His eponymous Michelin three-starred Paris restaurant has a distinctive menu style which Gagnaire has now adapted for sketch. The menu offers a unique breadth of ingredients and complexity of combinations. For instance, the starter of langoustines s actually four different dishes, including raw with green mango and grapefruit granite, mousseline with sweet butter and passion fruit, grilled with pear juice and mangoustan, and roasted 'Little Bay' with Shangai cabbage and lentils. The main course of Roast Fillet of 'Simmenthal' Beef Glazed in a Beef Burgundy Sauce and Grilled Baby Squid, Purée of Red Onions, Sautéed Cranberries, Potato Croquettes and French Bean Salad from Val de Loire is a gastronomic delight. And when you order dessert, you order all five of Pierre Gagnaire Grand Desserts. There are many amuse-bouches too. The wine list is equally elevated received the England and overall winner of the AA Wine Award 2007.

Please note that sketch Lecture Room & library only takes bookings up to 3 months in advance. Should you request a booking further in advance to this, your booking confirmation will be delayed.

Fabulous food (very unusual menu - basically a tasting menu each course) and service was great. Really expensive though!

I was really really impressed with Sketch in London, the lecture room. The service was the best I have ever experienced. The restaurant was extremely well laid out and although it was full, it was not at all noisy and you could easily talk.

Beautifully presented, mostly tasty (but too much!) food. Assumed we were early, that other guests arrive more fashionably late, but for our 8pm reservation, we had the whole of the lecture room to ourselves! The room is delightful (look out for the lamp which rises, lowers and flutters)! Having the room to ourselves was great, but not so the over-the-top service. Lovely as the waiters were, it became a bit unbearable. A table in the private members bar was offered after dinner too-lovely touch!

Absolutely stunning experience. We went for the tasting menu for £90 each and although it is a lot of money it was worth every penny of it. There were 7 courses plus 5 different types of dessert. The service was impeccable and the ambience is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Sketch Lecture Room is a rela gem they are dong good special lunch at 34.00 well worth being treated special. They make their money onthe drinks so beware a simple galss can cost 13-18 for small quantities but rhe food and service and loos are excellent. (loos are tremendous) I Will be back for sure, just wont drink that much next time !

Sketch is an expereince. That's the best way to describe it. THe staff are helpful, friendly and utter masters of the art of looking after you. The food is...well OK for a very high class restaurant. To be quite honest the Square just down the road is much better food-wise, and half the price to boot, but doesn't have anything like the same sense of occasion. The fine was utterly fabulous, but at £162 for a bottle (and that's mid-range for here) it bloody well should be

Sketch is one of the most pompous restaurants I've been to. As expected, the lavish food rivalled the decor in both presentation and taste. Compared to other Michelin-starred restaurants, Sketch menu can appear a bit too pricey, but it didn't fail to impress. I felt the gourmet dishes are at times too complicated and the most delicious dish I had (Deer for main course) was the simplest of all. The service is great -- and you'll get extra attention from the stuff if you're fashionably dressed.

Food was not as good as last time at Sketch, but at £35 for 3 courses, it is still surperb value for money and I will definitely be going back again!

Sketch Lecture Room was quite an experience - it should be included as one of the ten things to do before you die! Watch the price of the wine though, or you'll be paying for it until that day too.

Lovely setting, excellent reception with incredibly friendly but suitably formal staff; food and wine well explained, with a sensitive sommelier; the lunch deal is great, with the chance to taste around ten different dishes in all. The food is innovative and delicious, if not quite matching the quality of e.g. Ramsay's restaurants.

The Library was great. I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we each had a tasting menu (i had veg, he had meat). Service was great throughout the evening and there was so much food we could barely get to the puddings but somehow managed...
Small glitch on the bill as they'd charged us for cocktails that another table had ordered, but was cleared up very quickly and one of our glasses of wine was given complimentary due to this. The host also gave us a table&cocktails free in member's bar

Extraordinary location, outstanding design and decor, sumptious elegance, delicious and radical tasting menu, attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Easily one of the best restaurants to go to if you're in love ! From the maitre'd to the sommelier to the chefs, they all contributed to a very special evening. They even said "Welcome back!" even though I hadn't been for year !

Went to Sketch for my wife's 30th birthday dinner and had a fantastic evening. Went for the 7 course tasting menu which is very good value for money, though you need to be hungry! A great venue for a special occasion - great food, wine and service.
